Maddison's clear message to fans: Pessimism isn’t helping
James Maddison just delivered a masterclass in leadership.
He rejected the negative mindset trap that reporters were laying...

James Maddison’s comments definitely sent a clear message to negative fans...
That their pessimism isn’t helping the club or the players.
Some of our fans dwell on losses longer than the players do...
And that’s part of the problem.
It slows us down.
It spreads a mindset of doom.
When Maddison talked about his role as a senior player///
He emphasised the importance of lifting the group...

“That hurts us as well. Let’s not create the narrative that it’s just them suffering. … We want to reward them… but we’re in this together.”
That was a sharp and classy way of rejecting the fan-victim/player-perpetrator mindset some people cling to.
It shows that true football mentality is collective...
It’s not about guilt or owing...
It’s about shared effort...
And bouncing back together.
He also rightly pointed out the pointlessness of words alone...
Acknowledging fans don’t care about post-match interviews...
They want performances.
That’s an honest admission...
But also a subtle challenge to supporters:
If words mean little...
Then don't let your own words become weapons against your team.
