What kind of winning mentality thinks losing league games doesn’t matter? |
Good morning folks, this made me chuckle:
What kind of "winning mentality" thinks losing league games doesn’t matter?
The kind that understands strategy.
You've got to love this question because it's clearly from a losing mentality...
Thinking they are being clever...
But totally exposing the fact they know nothing about mentality.
It's a shoot-yourself-in-the-foot question.
Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League games right now are part of a bigger plan:
-
Rest key players.
-
Build sharpness in the squad.
-
Focus entirely on winning the UEFA Europa League.
That’s how elite clubs manage a run-in.
How winning mentalities operate.
This season there is only one prize...
Lifting it is all that matters...
Everything is geared towards that success...
That's the goal.
That's the focus.
That's the single-mindedness.
That's a winners approach.
Give yourself the best possible chance.
It’s not "giving up"...
It's playing to win the right trophy.
But the losing mentality can’t comprehend that...
Because to them, everything must be literal.
No room for planning.
No room for positives.
Just knee-jerk judgment, wrapped in faux passion.
What this guy is effectively saying is he doesn't want to win the Europa League...
Because he wants to be right...
More than he wants Tottenham Hotspur to win a trophy...
That's his level of support.
It's called "Limited Capacity Thinking".
You have to feel sorry for these people...
Their social media "fame"...
Is more important than Spurs winning a trophy.
Bigger picture fella...
There is a bigger picture.
You rest.
You rotate.
You prepare for the one trophy you can win.
That’s not weakness...
That’s focus.
You need to read the articles I have written about focus again.
You've either not seen them or not grasped the understanding.
A real winning mentality understands that some games are sacrificed to win the right ones.
It's not about pride every weekend.
It's about trophies.
Rory McIlroy's recent triumph at the 2025 Masters...
To achieve what only 6 players in 90 years of golf have achieved...
And what has been his goal since a young age...
The Grand Slam (winning all 4 major golf tournaments)...
Exemplifies this mindset.
It's taken him 17 years to win this tournament.
He didn't attack every pin...
Or play every shot aggressively.
He accepted the course's challenges...
Took his punishment when necessary...
And stuck to a strategy that ultimately led him to victory.
Did he make mistakes?
Yes...
But did he give up?
No.
He just produced absolute brilliance when it mattered.
He produced a shot that the commentators couldn't believe...
One of them had won this tournament three times.
They were in awe...
But then there were mistakes and shots they couldn't believe too...
As the pressure took it's toll on decision-making.
But he came back 4 times in the final round...
When it looked like he throwing immorality away.
He achieved what only one other player has achieved (Tiger Woods)...
In the last 59 years!
Similarly...
Tottenham's current approach under Ange Postecoglou...
Isn't about winning every Premier League match at all costs.
It's about managing resources...
Rotating the squad...
And focusing on the bigger prize...
The UEFA Europa League.
With the trophy...
And the prize of Champions League football...
With all the extra money...
The extra pull in the transfer market...
That that brings.
A true winning mentality isn't about relentless aggression;
It's about intelligent strategy...
Patience...
And knowing when to hold back...
To achieve the ultimate goal.
