June Fixtures - Big Game

FIXTURE TALK

Oh didn't I tell you, we made it to the Champions League Final at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, how remiss of me.

Our season ended with 12 points more than last season and one point more than this season's winners, Leicester City. Will that be enough and is it an accurate assessment, we will have to wait and see.

Well a win of course, need you ask.

The tournament starts next week, how the qualifiers go will decide who we may have to play in the group stages.

82 points to finish the season

5:00 pm

FIXTURE TALK

The final month of the season sees just three games and fortunately we already have more points than this season as none of the games will be easy.

West Ham United like to try and make this game into something big, but for me it is just another game from a side from London. They tend to raise their game and they are on their patch but I would expect us to come away with a point.

Manchester United away is the penultimate game and i can see Jose Mourinho getting the better of our boys leaving us with just Hull City who will be fighting for their lives. We won't make the same mistake we made this season and will finish the season with three points.

12 points from 6 games in April

2:30 pm

FIXTURE TALK

April comes around and we are sitting comfortably on 66 points. Six Premier League fixtures, a Champions League quarter-final double header makes for a busy schedule.

Burnley is a banana skin we won't succumb to and Swansea will see us win by the odd goal. Watford follow and perhaps this is a game that will frustrate us and we end with a disappointing draw. We should get back on track and notch up another three points at home to Bournemouth. Leicester City away could well be another stalemate as could Arsenal at home with plenty of these finishing as draws now.

Maximum points in March

9:00 pm

FIXTURE TALK

March sees the second leg of the Round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League and there is an international break so again we only are scheduled to play hree fixtures.

These game are as equally as important as February and all three are very winnable. Everton will pwrhaps be a tougher task than the opening day with a greater understanding of what Koman wants from them but I expect us to take the three points. A trip to Crystal Palace and a professional performance should see another three points, as before though, not a team to take lightly.

Finally Southampton at home and we should be capable of rounding the month off in style with maximum points.

FIXTURE TALK

February begins on 50 points and with a tough run-in we are going to need to have our wits about us and prepare for that. A very important time for us with the knockout stages of the Champions League to deal with and possibly a League Cup Final as well.

Just three Premier League fixtures so we must not take our eye off the ball. It is imperative that we overcome MIddlesbrough and travel to Anfield full of confidence. Just like the home game this is going to be a really tough encounter against an improved side challenging for a Champions League place. With Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama to call upon I can see this being a bit of a stalemate ad another draw the outcome.

Stoke City will be summarily be dismissed comfortably.

New Year starts with us on 43pts

7:30 pm

FIXTURE TALK

The turn oif the year sees the FA Cup kick in, if we have made it there is the semi-final of the League Cup, a two-legged affair and four Premier League games to play, two at home, two away. We are scheduled to have played 9 home games and 10 away games so a New Year total of 43 points should see us sitting pretty.

Chelsea will be a battle, both clubs will not want to lose, a draw looks as though it could be on the cards. WBA usually park the bus and we struggle, draws abound but I take us to find a way through and win by a couple of goals this time.

manchester City is another tough game, we won there this season , I fear hey ma=y get revenge next season improving under Pep Guardiola. I'll mark that down as a defeat followed by a win at Sunderland.

FIXTURE TALK

November was a tough month with three London Derbies. In December we have the final Champions League fixture and six Premier League games so again rotation is going to be important especially with the Christmas period and perhaps resting players for the Manchester United game.

We start the month with Swansea City though who we should register three points against, then it is Manchester United away where this season we were the better side but lost. Jose Mourinho will have sorted a lot of issues out by the time this game comes around and we will do well to come away with a draw. I have a feeling United are going to win this one though by the odd goal.

We then have a run of four fixtures that I see us winning. We have to be despatching the likes of Hull City and Burnley if we have any pretensions next season. Southampton will have a new manager, will they have settled into his style, will they have changed the team much? Plenty of imponderables but I see us taking the three points there again and then to Watford, which was a tough place for many teams this season. They are solid in defence, will they be next season, we'll have to wait and see. This might be a tight affair with just the one goal giving us victory.

FIXTURE TALK

The evaluation series continues into November where I look at the fixtures and predict our season and you can predict yours too.

The first three months of the season has seen us drop seven points across the first ten fixtures. November is a tough old month, Arsenal, West Ham, Chelsea, two Champions League games and an international break.

Arsenal away is becoming a bit of a draw game. I think the Gunners may have their best chance in a while of securing all three points but I'll take our lads to get a fighting draw. After an international break we have the Caravan Club of Great Britain, a big game for them, just another game for us. I can see us taking all three points in this one possibly by two clear goals.

We end the month with a game that is bound to be on TV, the companies will be clamouring for it. Will we have rested players in the Champions League, will we be in a position to do so, we can't really say until we know the fixtures and see how we are faring. I think we will save players for this game and I see it ending as another draw.

October Evaluation

2:30 pm

FIXTURE TALK

Two months down, into month three with a decent points total on the board having only dropped two points in the opening six games. The Champions League has started to kick in, the international breaks as well.

October sees just one Champions League game, an international break and a chance to play some squad players in the League Cup. That leaves us with four fixtures, two at home and two away.

We start the moth against Manchester City at White Hart Lane where we dished out a drubbing this season. I don't think we'll be doing the double over them under Pep Guardiola though and while a draw would be an acceptable result this might be a game we go down by the odd goal.

WBA is a place we tend to pick up draws so I'll go with that again and unfortunately see us drop two further points. Bournemouth ought to see us get back on track with all three points as we should against Leicester City. We totally outplayed them ans lost, which was rather galling, next season that will be put right, three points.

FIXTURE TALK

Having looked at the fixtures for August and suggested we might start the season with seven points from the first three games, hopefully no worse, time to move on to month two and three more fixtures in September.

in August we found out who our Champions League group stage opponents were and in September we get started with two fixtures which may make the games surrounding them that little bit more difficult.

We start the moth with Stoke City at the hate fueled Britannia Stadium where many a club comes a cropper if they don't approach the game right. We did this season and hopefully we go into the game with the same approach next season and not with one eye on the upcoming Champions League tie. Perhaps squad rotation will be important here.

Following the Champions League game we have Sunderland, a side we should really be getting past and follow that with a trip to Middlesbrough, where again you would expect us to fare well. The Champions League game that follows makes it a more difficult tie but you would expect us to collect all nine points in September.

August Evaluation

FIXTURE TALK

August sees us start against an Everton side who will be new to the Ronald Koeman methods, which you would expect would take time to be instilled. Even as an away fixture it is one we should be expecting to win.

Crystal palace are a side we often struggle against, home or away. We have come unstuck against them before and they are not a side we can take lightly. This is just the sort of game where we can not underestimate the opposition, but we must go into with the right mental attitude. We seem to have thet until the final few games when we lost our heads and gave up. A return to the right approach and we would expect to collect the points.

Finally we end the month with Liverpool who will be much tougher opponents in 2016/17. Jurgen Klopp will have got his methods across and just like we improved under Pochettino after one season, Liverpool will improve, significantly I believe, under Klopp this season. I can see this one ending in a draw.

Season Points Total: 7

Right now no cheating. Place your expected points total in the comments section and follow the monthly evaluations to see how many points we each expect to get next season. You can then keep a running total in the next monthly evaluation as well as the expected monthly points total. The only thing missing are the FA Cup dates for next year which begin for us in January.

The UEFA Champions League draw is important for us at the end of the montha nd then we have an international fixture break where we will all be waiting for the Premier League ti start again, but with so many Spurs players involved perhaps we'll enjoy the international break more this time.

Does this start impact upon our transfer activity? It seems that Michy Batshuayi is our preferred choice and we his preferred choice. We know Marseille have until 30 June to raise £31.67-million hence the valuation their president has placed on the striker. His valuation is clearly no coincidence. he isn't worth £31m yet and as the days tick down so will his price, 14 days to go on Thursday.

Vincent Janssen I suspect is our second choice. He wants playing time which he apparently accepts that he will get at Tottenham will all our fixtures. He has his international future to think of so joining a side where he will sit on the bench as a fourth choice striker isn't an option. You would think that rules out Manchester United who are said to be interested.

Victor Wanyama is all about agreeing a fee with Southampton and they will need to find a replacement as well as a manager who will want to assess what he wants. This transfer could well take its time. That is not ideal given we would want him training, but fortunately he has played the Pochettino system before so does have a little head start.

It is going to be a tougher season than last season with more teams involved at the top. Chelsea will return, Manchester United should improve under Jose Mourinho, manchester City won't be so poor away from home and Liverpool will get into the mix as well again.

We need to ensure we get ourselves into a good position for and through April. We don't want to be going into the last four fixtures having to win them all, not that we can't, it would just be easier if we didn't have to.
