Harry Kane is taking all the plaudits, Harry Kane is the cry for England but the best player on the field against Arsenal is also a young Englishman and I haven't yet heard his name mentioned for his country.

Ryan Mason for an England call-up

Roy Hodgson has a history of picking young players and giving them a chance to impress him during a game or in training, He called up Steven Caulker, he called up Jake Livermore so why not a call-up for Ryan Mason.

Mason and Bentaleb, who was superb, ran the midfield as Arsene Wenger pointed out in his interview after the game. Central to that was the work rate of 23-year-old Ryan Mason, a player who was out on loan at League One Swindon Town last season. Yesterday in the North London Derby win, he was simply everywhere.

He has started 16 Premier League games and come on as a sub once and he is easily the clubs top tackler. When you consider that Nabil Bentaleb (2.2), Benjamin Stambouli (2.7) and Etienne Capoue (2.4) play in the more defensive role of the two defensive midfielders then you'd think they would be making more tackles but not a bit of it, Mason averages 3.4 per game. Mousa Dembele (1.4) and Paulinho (0.8) were his challengers for the role but he has seen them off with Dembele now moved further forward.

Yesterday he has 4 shots, the same as Bentaleb and Kane, 2 of which were on target, he also made 4 tackles, again the same as Bentaleb and only bettered by Kyle Walker who made 5. Countless time he was putting his body between player and ball winning back possession without having to make a tackle. He chipped in with a couple of clearances and made a mammoth 69 passes during the game, Bentaleb made 55, Eriksen 51.

He found the time to put in 4 crosses only bettered by Danny Rose 6 and Christian Eriksen 7 while his 4 successful long balls was only bettered by Hugo Lloris with 5.

Kane caught the eye, Bentaleb was an unsung hero but Mason once again showed that when it comes to the occasion he is up to the task. Roy Hodgson was there yesterday to cast an eye over Harry Kane and Spurs English contingent, he can't fail to have been impressed with Ryan Mason and it wouldn't surprise me if and England call-up isn't on it's way.
