Performance Report

Roberto Soldado only came on as a late replacement and no no time to make much of an impact. His one contribution nearly led to a goal though. The ball went out for a throw in and his quick thinking almost put Erik Lamela in.

He took a quick throw into space behind the defence that Lamela had seen and was rushing towards, the throw was just a little too hard, only a fraction, but it prevented Lamela being able to take the ball inside the QPR box with just Robert Green to beat.

That one incident showed that despite not being first choice, indeed arguably being third choice his head is in the right place. Even at 4-0 he was looking to have a positive impact, not for himself but for the team. That augers well and he will surely start on Thursday again in the return UEFA Europa League tie at White Hart Lane.

He scored in the first leg, he needs to do so again to keep and boost his confidence as well as say to the manager I should be playing or I'm ready whenever I'm needed.

Performance Report

Harry Kane was brought on as a substitute ahead of Roberto Soldado again, this time after 70 minutes. By that time though we were going through the motions for a comfortable victory and there was very little impact he could have on the game.

He showed some nice touches when he had the chance and didn't have any opportunities to test Robert Green in the QPR goal. Thursday is the second leg of the UEFA Europa League tie so he'll not doubt take over from Christian Eriksen in the central number 10 role again, just as he did in the first leg. It's important for these two to get the minutes under their belt and continue to feel an active part of the squad.

Performance Report

A second half substitute for Nabil Bentaleb after 60 minutes gave him half an hour in an easy game that was already won. The game will have helped him play the system in game conditions and what was pleasing to see was that he was passing the ball instead of running with it.

There were several instances in the game where we won the ball in midfield and broke at pace with several players hurtling forward together. A Dembele running with the ball would negate that and slow the game down. That's fine when we are passing around and probing but when we need to play at speed passes are the fastest way to do it.

His stats tell you he only took one player on in 30 minutes, he beat him but that figure shows that passing was more important. It's an important part of his game to have to change and the initial signs are positive. Pairing him with Paulinho on Thursday will give them both some more matches to get fit, Paulinho was behind the other World Cup lads in terms of fitness on Thursday.

AEL will give it their all so it will be a better game for him that the acres of space QPR gave our midfielders.
