16-year-old talent Edwards makes his U-21 debut

11:30 pm
The Under-21 development squad suffered a 4-1 loss to Reading last night. Young 17-year-old Cameron Carter-Vickers was again the captain. Another youngster, hot 16-year-old prospect Marcus Edwards came on after 78 minutes for his Under-21 debut. He already has 18 England U-17 caps having made his debut last July.

Edwards is being watched by all the top clubs around Europe and I believe we only just held on to him this summer. Barcelona have him marked down as a future world-class player during the next 10 year period. Spurs do not want to lose him and he'll train with the first-team at some point this season.

Pochettino has made a special point of going to watch him train and talk with him to let him know he has his eye on him. Remember he is only 16 so to have the head coach making a special point of chatting with you and your family goes a long way. Being young his family will play their part in any decisions he makes and they feel the club is a good environment, top level training facilities don't hurt either.

From my research, the signs are that he'll stay at Spurs, he and his family like Pochettino, as it seems do a lot of our youngsters, he seems to be the reason many of them want to be here. It has appeared from the outset and even more so now that we have a long-term head coach on our hands.

Spurs U21s: Glover; Walker-Peters, Carter-Vickers (c), Maghoma, Lesniak; Amos, Veljkovic (Edwards 78); Sonupe, Goddard (Walkes 57), Georgiou (McEvoy 63); Harrison. Substitute (not used): Voss (GK).

In additional news Connor Ogilvie has had his loan spell with Teddy Sheringham managed Stevenage extended until January 2016 after joining for a month in August the club report.

Baby Bale will play tomorrow

11:30 am
Kenneth 'Kenny' McEvoy has signed a season long youth loan at Peterborough United and could well be playing for them tomorrow.

Baby Bale could play tomorrow

The 19 year-old is known to Spurs fans as a Gareth Bale lookalike although he is now slowly developing his own identity. He wears number 11, plays on the left wing, is quick, is left footed and was even wearing the same boots when they were together at Spurs. Because of the similarities he was naturally dubbed Baby Bale.

The Republic of Ireland under 19 international completed all the paperwork this morning and is looking forward to pre-season.

"This is an opportunity for me to come and try and break into the first team and get some experience under my belt. It is my first loan spell so I just have to try and impress in training. It is good that I have been able to join in pre-season as I can get to know the lads before the season starts.
"I first heard of the interest a few weeks ago, but it has been quite a hectic time because I only really found out for certain this morning (Thursday). Playing in the youth cup was a good experience for me, playing in front of decent crowds."

He joined us in 2011 and has been a regular in our U21 side (Development Squad) now managed by Ugo Ehiogu.

League One side Peterborough have a pre-season friendly against Brighton on Saturday and McEvoy will go straight in the squad and play 30 minutes revealed boss Darren Ferguson, who thanked Spurs for allowing McEvoy to move to London Road.

"Kenny is an exciting player, he is full of pace and energy. It is a big season for him, this is the next step in his development. I have to thank Tottenham for all their help, they have been easy to deal with.  Once we got their interest, we kept it there and they were more than happy for him to come here.
"I think he will excite people. He is a winger who can play either side. He is an intelligent player, he understands the game tactically and can play in numerous roles. I have had a good chat with him, he is raring to go.
"He will play 30 minutes on Saturday. He is a bit behind, he has only played 45 minutes so far this pre-season, but we will get him up to speed. I am pleased to get him on board, he fits the profile, everyone has seen we have that in abundance and we want to keep adding to that."

Latest Score: 10 man Spurs 2 Bolton 2

1:26 pm
Delighted to see Sandro back for us this lunchtime playing for the Under 21 Development Squad.

The Beast has been out since December 15th with a hamstring injury and then a calf injury. His last appearance was against Liverpool in that disastrous fixture. Kick-off was at 12 o'clock and he played for 51 minutes before being substituted.

Today's game is a Premier League Under 21 home game verses Bolton Wanderers. Also playing will be Danny Rose.

I can tell you after 67 minutes Spurs are 2-1 up with goals from McEvoy after 22 minutes and Coulthirst after 37 minutes. Bolton scored in the 64th minute as I write this. It's suddenly got worse as Ball is sent off and Bolton equalise in the 72nd minute.

Tottenham currently sit 9th in the table on 19 points after 14 games with a goal difference of -1 before this game. We had scored 28 and let in 29. The leaders are Fulham on 31 points. Bolton sit 12th on 18 points.

Spurs Squad: Archer, Ball, Coulibaly, Coulthirst, Fryers, Kane, Lameiras, McGee, McEneff, McEvoy, A McQueen, Rose, Sandro, Stewart, Veljkovic.

VIDEO of Under 21 win, Bale, Willian, Lamela

8:52 am

Let's start off Thursday with some video highlights of our Under 21's 6-3 defeat of Manchester City, a game in which Harry Kane grabbed a hat-trick.

Right having cheered you up lets get on to the other news, Bale, Willian, Lamela.

Franco Baldidi is racking up the air miles travelling around Europe and putting together the transfer deals for Levy to sanction and finalise.

A 5 year deal for Willian sorted with wages in the region of £85,000 a week, passed to Daniel, on then to Erik Lamela, not in Rome though and not in London but in Madrid.

Baldini is negotiating the sale of Gareth Bale whilst also negotiating for Erik Lamela and it is believed in some quarters Miralem Pjanic also.

Reports are now suggesting a deal in principle has been agreed for 21 year-old Argentinian Lamela. Wages in year one will of £40K (€2.4m a year) rising in the subsequent years of a 6 year contract. The fee agreed is a basic £25.65 million (€30m) with add-ons, the add-ons have not been agreed upon though as like Valencia Roma want easily achievable targets that will almost guarantee them more money. The add-ons will take the total cost of the deal to £29.92 million (€35m) it is believed.

The other potential stumbling block to the deal is the payment schedule. Roma want the money over 2 years, we want to pay over 4 years. We clearly want a deal to be done with Bale leaving probably by the end of the week, it would be a surprise if an agreement is not reached very soon.

Lamela is expecting to be a Spurs player, his girlfriend is expecting him to be a Spurs player tweeting 'What a farce' when he was presented as a Roma player yesterday, his brother is expecting him to be a Spurs player tweeting when asked where he is is going, Tottenham. The deal is dependent on Bale leaving so nothing can be confirmed with the deals yet until Bale is finalised (announced as finalised or not), then it's dominoes (draughts) time.

As Spurs fans we don't want to lose Gareth Bale but even those who have been in denial must now be starting to accept he is off. To use him to assemble a strong team will mean hardly any dissenting voices I would have thought with the array of vast talent he has been replaced with.
