VIDEO: Son individual highlights vs Qarabag

10:45 pm
Heung-min Son is an intellignt footballer around the box, he seems to find spce consistently between the two lines of the defence and when a little deeper rarely give the ball away.

He has settled brilliantly at the club which was just what we needed after a few failed signings with people making excuses that it takes time tio adjust. Adjustment is again down to motivation to succeed, if you want it bad enough you work out what you must do to adjust quicker, taking a year or even two years is quite frankly unacceptable.

Below is his individual performance agaiunst Qarabag in the UEFA Europa League.

If Christian Eriksen has taken inspiration from Andrea Pirlo for his free-kicks it seems to be working well, his two goals kept our good run going, a defeat to Manchester United due to an individual mistake, another player who needed a rest Bentaleb, and a defeat to Arsenal. Apart from that we haven't lost a game.

5:00 pm
Christian Eriksen was the Tottenham Man of the Match against Swansea City, notching his first 2 goals of the season, both from free-kicks.

Since 2013/14 I saw someone report he has scored 5 direct free-kicks, more than any other Premier League player. A bit surprising as I would have thought it would have been higher than that myself. Below are his individual highlights from the 2-2 draw on Sunday afternoon.

VIDEO - ITK by Spurred On

12:30 pm
Barnaby who runs the Spurs fan channel 'Spurred On' on YouTube has kindly sent me a video which he has asked me to bring to a wider audience and I'm happy to oblige. With the international break it can be a tedious time if you have no players involved from your club, fortunately we do.

Myself I have always followed England and watch the internationals, I want my country t do well, it's good for the game, there is too much club over country around. With Harry Kane and Ryan Mason selected, plus players at Under-21 level and below there is Tottenham interest to focus upon.

It seems an ideal time, what with the Berahino saga and the transfer window closed to bring you some light relief.

Happy Birthday Micky Hazard

4:30 pm
Today, February 5th is the birthday of one of my favourite players when growing up, when shorts were short, the unsung Micky Hazard, who is 55 today, still young at heart I'm sure Micky.

He was unfortunate to be around at the same time as Glenn Hoddle but had skill of his own that watch a delight to watch in the days when you could turn up at the stadium and buy a ticket.

Back in 2013 Hazard echoed the words of the great Danny Blanchflower when he said the game always is, always will be, or should be about the glory.  Blanchflower if you remember came out with the immortal line;

"The game is about glory. It’s about doing things in style, with a flourish, about going out and beating the other lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom."

Hazard signed a contract and made his League debut for us in a 3–0 victory over Everton on 19 April 1980, then aged a sprightly 20. he went on to live every boys dream by winning the FA Cup at Wembley and added a European trophy for good measure. The one blot was a runners-up medal in the League Cup of 1982 when we lost to Liverpool after extra-time.

While with Spurs he won won the 1982 FA Cup beating QPR in the final, which required defeating Arsenal, Leeds United, Aston Villa, Chelsea and Leicester City to get there.

Hazard also picked up the UEFA Cup in 1984 (now the Europa League) and had a hand in goal of both legs of the final against the holders, Belgian side Anderlecht. It was a MIcky Hazard free-kick against then Yugoslavian side (now Croatia) Hajduk Split in the second leg of the semi-final (2-1 down from 1st Leg) that got us to the final.

Both legs finished 1-1 with goals from Paul Miller and skipper Graham Roberts, the crosses supplied by Hazard. We won the penalty shoot-out 4-2 (Roberts, Falcao, Stevens, Archibald) to lift the trophy.

Soldado medical tomorrow?

9:15 am
All the rumours are suggesting that Roberto Soldado is a Spurs player, that everything is agreed and he just needs to put pen to paper after a medical.

The version of events from ITK this side has not always matched the local journalists, who know everything about Valencia. For those of you who have been following my posts of the Soldado saga, you'll have had an insight into this transfer from the Spanish side.

A club that simply leaks information among a close knit circle of friend. Directors phone their friendly reporters or radio station friends and tell them what just happened in a meeting for instance. I therefore have placed far greater faith in what is coming out of the Valencia via the local reporters than from over here.

Valencia have taken down the Soldado marketing posters and replaced him with the Valencia badge, he was their marketing, just as every company wants to be associated with Bale over here, so everyone in Valencia wants Soldado, and Valencia have to have EUR 14 million by 3 August for tax purposes.

The Valencia Facebook page no longer has a picture of Soldado. Radio station Cadena SER have announced the deal, the Valencia Financial Director has apparently said he is sold to Tottenham, players are talking about him in the past tense, now website insidespanishfootball.com (not a website I have used before so I won't vouch for it's authenticity) are saying the Soldado will have a medical for Tottenham tomorrow.

My guess is that's a guess but the medical will happen sooner or later anyway.

As for the sources I have been using I'm waiting for further news, the Valencia reporters remain the ones to listen to for information.

For now here is his 2012/13 season, it's only 4.26 minutes but be sure to watch the goal nearly 3 minutes in.
