You Can’t Build a Winning Team With a Losing Crowd: Spurs Fans vs Elite Mentality

When the Crowd Doesn’t Think Like Champions, Don’t Expect the Team To Win Like One

Postecoglou is speaking the language of winners...

But many fans are stuck in a cycle of blame...

Impatience...

And emotional reactions that contradict everything it takes to win at the top level.

There are parallels between elite athletes at The Masters and Ange’s Spurs,,,

Showing how mentality is the deciding factor...

Not just ability or money.

Intro Block

While Ange Postecoglou calmly explains how success is built...

Brick by brick...

Failure by failure...

As explained by Napoleon Hill in his success bible Think and Grow Rich...

The response from many in the fanbase is noise...

And abuse...

Which of course shows they are out of their depth.

They hear his words…

But they don’t understand them.

Because he’s speaking the language of winners...

And most of them have never lived in that world.

Winning mentalities vs Losing mentalities.

The Elite Speak in a Different Language

Elite athletes don’t rely on vibes and opinions.

They rely on mentality...

On process...

Routine...

Clarity...

And focus.

That’s why when you listen to The Masters golf coverage...

You hear commentators and legends saying things like:

“Mentality is everything.”

Sir Nick Faldo repeats it like a mantra.

Coach Butch Harmon isn’t talking about technique...

He admitted he was telling Justin Rose to forget his age and focus only on the moment...

Because Jack Nicklaus won it older than he is.

He has the ability...

It's the mentality that has prevented him from putting on the famous winner's green jacket.

Even Rory McIlroy...

One of the most naturally gifted players on the planet...

Has turned to a sports psychologist to help him block out noise…

Ignore social media…

Stay in the now.

This is what winners do.

They protect their minds...

Build discipline...

And tune out distraction.

Because they know mentality is the final edge.

Spurs fans don't...

So all they do is undermine the club.

It doesn't fit their narrative...

A loser's narrative.

What the Masters Teaches Us About Mentality

You don’t win The Masters by hoping it goes your way.

You win it by controlling what you can...

And letting go of what you can’t.

That’s why Rory is training his brain.

A guy who has had 7 rounds of 66 or under...

Only bettered by Tiger Woods (8)...

Who also used a sports psychologist.

That’s why Rose is coached to “stick to your game.”

That’s why Faldo keeps repeating:

“The winner will be the one who stays calm when the chaos comes.”

Ange Postecoglou preaches the same message at Tottenham Hotspur.

He talks about not chasing results…

Staying in process…

Ignoring the noise.

In other words, the negative fans.

But when he says it...

A large chunk of the fanbase just hypothetically roll their eyes.

Because to them...

It’s not football.

It’s fluff.

But to the elite...

To winners...

It’s everything.

Winners are in a different world...

To a fans world.

Spurs Fans Can’t Hear What Ange is Saying

Postecoglou could stand on the touchline with a megaphone shouting:

"This is part of the process. Trust it."

And still, people would post, tweet, rant:

"No leaders!" "Sarr does nothing!" "We’ve wasted £700m!"

They’re not hearing him.

Because they can’t.

What Ange is teaching doesn’t exist in their world.

Most fans don't live in elite environments where failure is baked into progress...

Where calm is a weapon...

And where success is delayed by design.

They want solutions at half-time.

They want clarity from chaos.

They want growth without the growing pains.

So when Postecoglou talks about mentality...

He isn’t performing.

He’s not trying to “sound smart.”

He’s laying the foundations for something this club has lacked for over a decade:

Emotional control and mental strength.

The fans hear it...

But it goes straight out the other ear.

Because they’ve been trained by decades of chaos to only trust outcomes.

They don’t recognise when they’re already in the middle of something being built.

Why?

Because Ange is speaking the truth…

But it’s not their truth.

He’s talking about growth.

They’re stuck on results.

He’s talking about composure.

They’re addicted to reaction.

You can see it clearly in the way they talk about players like Sarr.

Suddenly, he's “not doing anything.”

They’ve decided they can’t “see what he adds.”

Meanwhile... Real Madrid are watching him.

They're watching Bergvall, Romero, Udogie, Porro and Van de Ven too!

Just think about that disconnect for a moment.

The fans that have never been inside a dressing room think they see it all.

The biggest club in the world is preparing a scouting dossier.

But our fans know better!

You Can’t Win Without Pain… and Patience

There’s no shortcut to greatness.

And yet Tottenham Hotspur fans act like there should be.

They see a young team...

Many of them 22 and under...

Battling through injuries...

Which our own fans ignore by the way...

Adapting to a new culture...

A new system...

And still fighting for trophies.

But, instead of backing that growth...

They tear it down every time it stumbles.

"Can’t see what Sarr does anymore…"

Real Madrid can.

They’re watching him.

And Bergvall.

And Van de Ven.

And Romero.

The rest of the football world sees what’s being built at Spurs…

It’s just many of our own fans who don’t.

Because winning demands pain.

It demands patience.

It demands a period where things look worse before they look better...

And the ones who come through that with clarity and belief...

Are the ones who eventually win everything.

Ange gets that.

The players are learning it.

But the fans?

They still think the first sign of struggle means the whole project’s broken.

But then they are stuck in their agenda...

Because they don't understand success...

As my recent posts have all shown.

Think and Grow Spurs: Lessons From People Who Actually Won

Want to know the difference between people who win...

And people who give up...

Like our fans?

It’s patience.

It’s persistence.

It’s learning from setbacks instead of screaming that everything needs change.

Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich is full of lessons.

Not motivational fluff...

Real stories.

From people who achieved something.

People who built empires.

Not Twitter threads.

Thomas Edison tried 10,000 times to make the lightbulb.

That’s not a typo.

10,000.

When asked if he felt like a failure, Edison didn’t flinch.

"I haven’t failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work."

That’s the winners' mindset.

That’s how breakthroughs happen.

That's how success is achieved.

Henry Ford was told he was mad.

He failed in business.

He failed in execution.

He was told his vision couldn’t work.

He kept going.

He didn’t panic halfway through the build.

He didn’t beg for a new plan after six months.

He saw it through.

Then he changed the world.

And then there’s the story every Spurs fan needs to hear…

A man called R.U. Darby found gold.

Bought the equipment.

Dug.

Struck a vein.

Then it disappeared.

So he quit.

Sold the equipment for pennies.

The guy who bought it?

He checked with an expert.

Turned out the gold vein hadn’t stopped...

It had just shifted slightly.

Darby was three feet away from millions.

Three feet.

That’s all.

He gave up right before the reward.

All that effort…

Wasted because he couldn’t wait.

Sounds just like the protestors...

The Twitterati doesn't it!

This is what most Spurs fans don’t get.

You’re watching a young team go through its failed experiments.

You’re three feet from gold...

And you’re screaming to sell the shovel.

Edison didn’t do that.

Ford didn’t.

Ange won’t.

But some fans want a new project the second the light bulb flickers.

Andrew Carnegie built a steel empire.

How?

He built the right team.

He gave them time.

He had a clear vision and stuck to it.

Sound familiar?

It should.

Because that’s exactly what Postecoglou is doing now.

The people who really succeed?

They persist.

They absorb failure.

They keep the vision alive when everyone else doubts it.

Fans shouting for change at every bump in the road aren’t speeding up success.

They’re just walking away…

Three feet from gold.

It’s Not the Team That’s Holding Spurs Back. It’s the Noise

This team isn’t failing.

It’s learning.

And it’s building something stronger than any flash-in-the-pan success: a culture.

But every time a young player has a bad half…

Every time we don’t batter a low block…

Every time we draw instead of win…

The noise comes.

The same tired tropes.

The same reactive emotion disguised as insight.

"No leaders."

"Sonny offers nothing."

"The rebuild’s a myth."

Meanwhile...

Madrid are watching.

Coaches across Europe are admiring the style.

Players want to come.

Fans of other clubs wish they had our project.

But our fans?

Some of them would rather scream "failure" before the paint’s even dry.

This isn’t Ange’s problem.

It’s not the players' either.

It’s ours.

You can’t build a winning team when the crowd only understands losing patterns.

You can’t teach new mentality when the stands are still clinging to the old one.

Tottenham Hotspur is evolving.

Growing.

Moving.

If you're still demanding shortcuts and scapegoats...

You’re not part of the process...

You're part of the problem.
