Do Leicester have the easiest run-in?

10:45 pm
The priority is not to limit yourself to what you can achieve. Faint heart never won fair maiden. You continue to go for all three trophies and trust the squad.

The top four all have similar fixtures apart from perhaps Leicester who seem to have an easier run-in. However neither Leicester City nor Tottenham have been in this situation, it is all new to the players, how they will react is anyone's guess. We have players who have won titles, Toby Alderweireld has won both the Dutch and Spanish titles, but that type of experience is rare within the squad. That makes any game a potential banana skin. The goal has to be simply three points in the next game each time.

Our fixtures and the full 24 potential fixtures from now until the end of the season are shown below. We don't have another Premier League game until 28 February, in the meantime players can be rotated to retain freshness.

You would expect a strong team for Fiorentina and rotation thereafter to prepare for the Swansea, West Han, Arsenal set of games.

Evidence the PL favour Arsenal

7:00 pm
The Premier League may try to tell you that the fixture list is luck but the fact is that under the leadership of Richard Scudamore the Premier League have favoured Arsenal over Spurs.

The fixture list doesn't lie. In his own words he stated that Arsenal and Tottenham do not play at home on the same weekend, that is deliberately avoided for obvious reason, quite why he then put forward the two clubs sharing a stadium when it would cause violence only he knows.

A look at the opening day fixtures shows a clear bias towards Arsenal, just look at the crazy stat produced by Spurs TV Commentator Daniel Wynne.

Of the last 14 seasons (including this coming season) we have started 11 away!

An opening day fixture is important because you want to get off to a good start, you don't want to immediately be having to play catch-up. It's a psychological thing, you are immediately on the back foot, fans are deflated. Success is created with a positive outlook, winning reinforces that and a side has more chance of winning playing at home in front of their own fans.

If you lose an opening day fixture you are immediately waiting for other clubs to drop points. The banter starts that you are in the relegation zone, there is immediately extra pressure to get the first win under the belt. The mind can be strange things and an opening day fixture sets the tone. For some players, performances can be affected by picking up on these negatives before the season is hardly underway.

Incidentally for those interested in our opening day performances Daniel helpfully posts another Tweet for us.

Opening day stats in 23 PL seasons: pld 6 at WHL and 17 away. Won 8 Drawn 6 Lost 9. Of 6 at home W2 D3 L1 and of 17 away W6 D3 L8.

For those of you who will ask about the last day fixtures, the answer is we have played 7 at home and this season will be our 7th away in the same 14-year period.
