SPURS TALK

What is in the news today apart from Theresa May calling a general election against an ineluctable opponent?

You can choose from the improvement of Tottenham Hotspur under Argentinian manager Mauricio Pochettino, who has not only educated the players and changed their way of thinking, but insists every member of staff at the club should act in the same way, but has been educating our supporters too.

Moving on from there we have the official account on Twitter reminding us that there are four days to go until the semi-final at Wembley against Chelsea.

Then we can offer you somebody thinking it is a blow to us that a defender we tried to sign a couple of years ago and don't need now we have Belgian international Toby Alderweireld in their position instead, might go to AC Milan.

AC Milan 'to win race for Villarreal defender Mateo Musacchio.

talkSPORT tells us "The north London duo (Spurs and Arsenal) have been heavily linked with the Villarreal man, who is rated as one of La Liga's best defenders."

Er, no we haven't, that was years ago. They go on to say "According to reports in Italy, the 26-year-old has already agreed personal terms with Milan ahead of a summer switch."

After the distortion of the truth by some websites this morning over Bruma and now this pretence we are 'heavily linked' with a player we haven't been for over a year, I despair once again.

Sky drop Arsenal in favour of Spurs and NDP funding news

10:30 am

SPURS TALK

Arsenal have been dropped from a live TV game by Sky and have replaced the Arsenal versus Leicester City game on 26 April with Crystal Palace versus Tottenham Hotspur on the same evening.

The change suggests that Sky now feel that Tottenham Hotspur will attract more viewers for their TV ratings and advertisers. it is further evidence that Tottenham are now the number one team in North London, as if there was any doubt.

STADIUM TALK

In other news, Hotspur Spectator has posted a piece about the Northumberland Development Project entitled NDP - Public Grant/Subsidy. It is the response from Haringey Council to a Freedom of Information Request made by Hilary Adams on 29 March.

She was asking for details of all the payments Haringey Council had paid to Tottenham Hotspur since the date planning permission was given in 2012. Hotspur Spectator provides several links to the documents that relate to the answer.

FIXTURE UPDATES: Manchester United (Home) now Sunday 14 May - KO 4.30pm (Sky 📺) Leicester City (Away) now Thursday 18 May - KO 7.45pm (Sky 📺)

Derby have kept a home league clean sheet in 57.14% of their home league games, a record in England only Spurs can beat 😵

Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata has revealed that he spoke to Mauricio Pochettino last summer about joining Spurs and feels if he leaves Real Madrid it would be to move to London and the Premier League. Chelsea are another option, he also said he spoke to Antonio Conte, for the 24-year-old (25 in October) but it is safe to say Arsenal are out of the picture now after all that daft talk about signing him last summer, they never had a hope.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Italian side AC Milan are leading the chase for 23-year-old (24 in June) Bosnian left-back Sead Kolasinac. There are reports suggesting we have made him a massive offer, which personally I don't believe and other reports suggesting he has an offer from manchester City and Chelsea.

The Schalke 04 defender is out of contract at the end of the season and is reported as having also opened talks with Arsenal.

Let's leave you with Twitter.

When Levy took over 16 yrs ago we were 20 years behind in terms of stadium, team and style Now caught up...and overtaking #COYS

Unless Arsenal close the gap on Spurs in the next two games, a NLD win on April 30th will confirm them finishing above us this season.

Only team in PL with 3 goalscorers in double figures

9:23 am

SPURS TALK

Let's kick off the day with a few stats.

Spurs are the only team with three goal scorers in double figures in the Premier League this season which tells you a lot about the distribution of goals and the off the ball movement we have. At Southampton the front four interchanged and we have the wide men cutting in and becoming a goal threat. It is why Erik Lamela couldn't adapt for two seasons, he didn't come inside into scoring positions when not in possession, he hid.

Harry Kane (19 goals, 4 assists)
Dele Alli (16 goals, 6 assists)
Son Heung-min (11 goals, 7 assists)

Christian Eriksen has 7 goals and 11 assists.

Spurs' Premier League home form this season Most points: (44) Most wins: (14) Best goal difference: (+31) Fewest conceded: (8)

Spurs goal difference is currently +42, our highest ever in the Premier League.

Watford manager Walter Mazzarri on Spurs: "Phenomenal - they have everything"

Dele Alli has been directly involved in 14 goals in 13 Premier League games for Spurs in 2017 (10 goals, 4 assists). 88 appearances, 29 goals, 13 assists, quite some record.

Incredible that some people wanted us to sell Kieran Trippier and Son Heung-min last summer!

The Comeback Kings of the Premier League

The Comeback Kings

The belief that Mauricio Pochettino has asked the Tottenham players to take on board and nurture is evident in the number of points gained from losing positions. The Argentinian coach has removed the soft underbelly Spurs had and turned us into the comeback kings of the Premier League.

When he arrived at the club we had a soft underbelly that kept getting exposed, we were always likely to lose concentration and concede not just one goal but several. Now we don't panic, we take it in our stride and probe for an equaliser and then the winner.

We lead the Premier League on this score having taken 17 points from losing positions this season, but we also lead the way on the same score since Mauricio Pochettino took over, rather handsomely. We have now secured 53 points from losing positions since he was appointed on 27 May 2014, which is 13 points more than our nearest rival Crystal Palace.

Of course, it would be better if we didn't go behind in the first place but it shows what fight and determination we have to secure so many points and turn so many games around.

Spurs Talk - A Premier League first, Kane, Vorm and Rose

1:50 pm

SPURS TALK

Tottenham are a team that achieve things for other to follow in our footsteps and we have done it again.

Yesterday was the first time in Premier League history that a team losing in the 88th minute goes on to win a game by two goals

Striker Harry Kane has officially returned to first-team training and is expected to be fit for the Bournemouth game next week with the FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea 15 days away. Son Heung-min and or Vincent Janssen will fill in for him again against Watford at the weekend, no point rushing him back.

Michel Vorm sustained a knee injury against Swansea City and is undergoing further assessment. Hugo Lloris should be fit after feeling unwell in midweek meaning 22-year-old (23 in December) Spaniard Pau Lopez could well be on the bench again.

Left-back Danny Rose won't be returning to training until the end of the month so he will miss the Chelsea FA Cup semi-final and the North London Derby against Arsenal. Ben Davies will continue to get an extended run in the side and will be playing in some important games.
