Spurs-watching

Good morning to all you positive and sensible Spurs fans who aren't clinging on to out-dated misconceptions about our club and it's running.

Unfortunately, people read journalists (who are kids themselves and have Sunday morning football standard playing knowledge) and take their, often incorrect opinions, as their own.

Some still cling to the belief that Daniel Levy is deciding on transfers when he basically has nothing to do with them now.

To increase transfer spend, any club must generate more funds or free up some and Spurs are no different.

In line with Financial Fair Play requirements, Daniel Levy has followed his vision of building this club to be a powerhouse.

The first step in that is to build the income of the club, then the infrastructure to attract top players and the new stadium for both of those reasons.

That is common sense.

When you have a long term vision, that comes first, not diverting all your funds into players and stunting your growth.

Income generated has to be guaranteed income, you have to know years in advance what your income will be.

That can be garnered from TV and broadcasting deals and the revenue you receive from commercial activities, sponsorship and match day income.

The bonus on that is the TV and broadcasting money from European competition, which is obviously greatest in the UEFA Champions League.

Covid 19 obviously delayed things and gave many clubs a reality check, indeed put most into problems that many have still not recovered from, Barcelona and Juventus to name but two.

Both have had to offload players on high wages who were a noose around their necks.

An empty stadium delayed our long term progress and as I wrote at the time, it would take two years to sort out our finances, that it would need a year of supporters back to generate the funds we would require to compete in the transfer market.

We have a chairman that has organized long term loans at rates that do not have a huge impact on us as it has on others.

I have seen a video calculating what Spurs might have to spend in the transfer markets coming up, with input from a footballing financial expert.

The conclusion was more than any other Premier League club.

We have steadily increased our wages budget, we have refused to sell our star player, we have greater income meaning greater money is available for transfers.

I find it incredible that some people are so stupid that they complain about us not 'backing' Mourinho in the middle of a pandemic with around £150-£200m reduced income.

There is no hope for people like that or for those who don't appreciate the part Pochettino played in us not signing anybody during a summer transfer window, January windows are pretty much meaningless with most players not available.

Our income, with the new stadium, has gone from a £250m income club to a £450m income club, while the bigger boys are £650m income clubs, so we still have a way to go.

We have added around £100m stadium income and a top quality manager who knows the score, coming into the club with his eyes wide open.

Conte knows the project we are trying to build, indeed are building and his results to date show the coaching previously hasn't been good enough.

Antonio Conte had his meeting to map out his ideas for the Spurs squad, positions that need to be filled, if possible in January, but for the summer mainly.

I'll repeat for the agenda driven idiots, players are generally not available in January thus clubs don't spend in January, they spend in the summer.

Readers already know Dušan Vlahović has told us he is signing in the summer to work with Conte and the same with Franck Kessié.

It is just a question with Kessié whether Paratici finally decides whether to add him to the squad or not.

Abusing the chairman and our owners on social media does nothing to help the club and isn't support, so if you are one of them get a life and you might not be so miserable.

Right let's get onto yet more young players Spurs are watching (the last two articles have contained lists, links at the bottom of the article), this time with the emphasis on right-backs after Emerson's terrible delivery against Watford.

Whatever happened to the likes of John Robertson and the best crosser of a ball I have ever seen, the brilliant Dave Thomas, who at 71 is now registered blind and uses a guide dog.

Both were brilliant wingers, back in the day when they crossed a ball and tackling was aloud, happy days.

Incidentally he is the first former professional footballer to be registered blind and receive a guide dog. He also uses hearing aids.

Tariq Lamptey

Brighton & Hove Albion right wing-back Tariq Lamptey is interesting Spurs and Arsenal.

The 21-year old (22 in September) England U-21 (2 caps) right-back is an all-important homegrown player, something clubs have to be constantly aware of.

However, he is under contract until 2025 and there are other options who have less time remaining on their contract and may be more ready-made.

Lamptey has 1 assist in 11 Premier League games, had 8 shots, 2 on target, is 74% right-footed and has put in 23 crosses, completing 7 passes into the 18-yard box.

To remind you, clubs can only name 17 non-homegrown players over the age of 21 who can then play in the Premier League, at the moment anyway.

This season he has had 13 shots, only 2 of which have been on target, received 1 yellow card and made 65 crosses.

The Italian is 85% right-footed and has had 6 shots this season, 3 on target in 7.9 full Serie A games.

He has made 6 passes and completed 2 crosses successfully from the 14 attempted.

4 nutmegs places him 2nd in Serie A!

He has made 82 Ligue 1 appearances, 3 goals, 2 assists and is under contract until 2024.

Badiashile is 83% left-footed and has a 74.1% completion rate of his long passes this season.

Evan Ndicka

Evan Ndicka is a 22-year old (23 in August) left-footed centre-back for Eintracht Frankfurt and las 1 French U-21 cap.

He is under contract until 2023 and can cover left-back.

Brennan Johnson

Johnson has played 7 games (3 goals, 2 assists) as a right-winger, 6 games (2 goals, 1 assist) as a left-winger, 4 games as an attacking-midfielder (1 assist), 3 games as a second striker, 2 games as a left-sided midfielder, 2 games as a right-sided midfielder and 1 game as a centre-forward.

He has had 41 shots, with 31.7% (13) on target, scored 5 goals and had 5 assists.
