Tottenham Transfer Talk - Mourinho Rebuilding Plans

Jose Mourinho needs to rebuild Tottenham, much like Pochettino would have had to once a raft of players had left if he stayed. Pochettino is a young players coach, older players don't seem to stay on his side for too long.

Having said that, Jose Mourinho generally has disagreements with players after just a few years and they fall out so players are the ones who dictate what happens to a manager, they just stop playing and it is always the manager who goes.

Tottenham will now be doing a lot of business with the Gestifute Agency, which is the agency of Portuguese agent Jorge Mendes who has fellow Portuguese national Jose Mourinho as a client.

It isn't a surprise, therefore, that we have been linked with three Mendes players already and another we are constantly watching.

  • Defensive midfielder Rúben Neves

    Player Spurs are constantly watching
  • Right-Back Ricardo Pereira
26-year-old (27 in October) at Leicester City
    Under Contract until 2023
    Market Value of £36 million
    Not available this window
  • Right-Back Nélson Semedo
26-year-old (27 in November) at Barcelona
    Under Contract until 2022

    Been offered to Spurs
  • Centre-Forward André Silva
24-year-old (25 in September) at Eintracht Frankfurt on loan from AC Milan

    Market Value of £18 million
    On Spurs potential strikers list
We now have a Portuguese manager instead of an Argentinian one. The Argentinian was interested in Argentinian players and now the Portuguese one is interested in Portuguese players.

What does that mean for Giovani Lo Celso, who is starting to impress with some cutting passing but isn't starting much under Jose Mourinho?

As far as I am aware, his deal is a guaranteed purchase deal as opposed to an option to buy so we can't just send him back. I have heard thus far that Jose is and isn't impressed with him!

We can only have two loan players and when Gedson signs we will have two in the squad. That would mean we would have to buy a striker unless we swapped Gabigol for Eriksen.

We'll have to wait and see what develops but with a new manager, there are question marks around a lot of the squad.

Harry Winks isn't a first-choice starter. It helps that he is homegrown but he has stagnated somewhat. Can Mourinho revive him and push his career forward?

Kyle Walker-Peters simply isn't good enough and hasn't impressed Mourinho at all.
Jan Vertonghen is coming to the end of his career.
Victor Wanyama has injury issues he will have to carry for the rest of his playing days, which are unlikely to be at Tottenham.

Japhet Tanganga showed he is the future of our defence and he'll be signing a new long-term contract.

It looks like Toby Alderweield, Davinson Sanchez and he may well be three of our centre-backs going forward, with Sanchez having produced his best performance under Mourinho and his best performance for quite some time against Liverpool.

Ben Davies has signed a new contract and Mourinho liked what he saw from Davies so his future at the club looks secure.

Danny Rose we want to get shot of but he is refusing to leave the club so he can have a payday when his contract has finished. If he simply refuses to sign for someone then there is nothing we can do about it, although that won't stop fans complaining that he should have been sold!

Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Son Heung-min are safe, Moura is playing for his future. Sissoko, Mourinho says, has been the best player since he arrived at Spurs so he looks secure.

Ryan Sessegnon is young are learning to be a left-back so he is secure for now, Troy Parrott has signed a new deal too.

Michel Vorm departs once again in the summer and Jan Vertonghen comes to the end of the road and Christian Eriksen is leaving of course.
