NLD-Preview

Good morning to another lovely day to be a joyful Spurs fan because if you can't enjoy supporting Spurs then why bother.

Arsenal play hosts to Tottenham Hotspur in the 169th league meeting of the North London Derby today.

Manchester City beating Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and Aston Villa beating Manchester United at Old Trafford yesterday, has given my title favourites, Liverpool, an opportunity to open a gap at the top of the table.

They failed to take it drawing with Brentford so I guess if all these clubs were followed by our fans they'd all be calling for them to be sacked!

It has also given Tottenham an opportunity to get within one point of rivals Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United.

The Goons made a dismal start to the Premier League season with three losses without scoring, while Tottenham started with three wins without conceding.
Arsenal have recovered to win consecutive Premier League matches 1-0.

They have not recorded a hattrick of league wins ‘to nil’ since July 2020 and for the last seven seasons they have not won successive league games against us.

The Gunners beat us in March and do have a good head-to-head record against us on their home soil, losing just once to 'Spurs' in the last 28 home Premier League matches (W16, D11).

Arsenal have scored at least once in their last 22 Premier League home matches against Spurs.

Tottenham have never lost three consecutive league games by 3+ goals in our entire history.

Only one of the last ten Spurs managers to take charge of a North London Derby have won their first top-flight meeting with Arsenal (D5, L4) so now would be a good time for Nuno Espírito Santo to make a name for himself.

Alexandre Lacazette will be aiming to become the first Arsenal player to score in four consecutive home league fixtures against Spurs.

Harry Kane failed to score against Arsenal in the last game vs Arsenal, but he has never gone consecutive games without scoring against our fierce rivals.

Wayne Rooney is the only player in Premier League era to have scored more league goals (12) against Arsenal than Spurs striker Harry Kane (11).

It's time to equal another record Harry.

Kane-Goals

We saw an improvement against Chelsea for the first half, where that set of players were playing together for the first time.

We were the better side, then the second half started and a Dele lapse at a corner led to them scoring and not long after a lucky goal (deflected shot off Dier's leg) ended the game as a contest.

The second half way distorted by that start you could easily argue.

Then against Wolves we were easily the better team and it was only Ndombele lapses in the second half that allowed them to score and then draw level, it was nothing they did, more what we did to ourselves.

Thus it is easy to go into the Arsenal game with confidence and optimism.

Well that's it for this morning's offering folks.
