Dušan Vlahović

The world and his wife know Tottenham are chasing 21-year-old (22 next January) Fiorentina striker
Dušan Vlahović.

The Serbian has snubbed Arsenal, his agent isn't even taking their calls as Fabio Paratici works on building Spurs into a force to be reckoned with, now with an ally and world class coach in Antonio Conte.

Lazio ace Sergej Milinković-Savić was asked if
 Vlahović was agood player.

"Good? He’s not good, he’s outstanding.

"I’m quite certain the stats would back that up, considering his age.

“However, I think he’s the type of player who still gets annoyed when he doesn’t play well.

"So he’s definitely going to get better and get the world talking about him, which is something I like about him.

“In both training and matches, he never takes it lightly when he misses a chance, so he has a hunger for scoring goals and winning.

"I like how he wants to prove himself, so I think he’s bound to become one of the greats.”

Impressive words and his Fiorentina coach is a fan too. In the Juventus pre-game press conference Vincenzo Italiano said

"It did not depend on situations off the pitch because he always gives his soul. He chases everyone and when his teammates are in possession he tries to dictate the passage. Everything that has happened previously did not concern his tranquility. Striker who comes from a hat-trick is a striker who is at the maximum level of confidence.

The game also requires a different stimulus and attention. Seeing him arrive with this enthusiasm gives us confidence. I don't read the newspapers, I saw Arsenal, Tottenham , City, Juve, Milan ... everything and more. Now they are just rumors and situations that for me are not very credible. The boy is concentrated and you have seen how much he wants to do well."

Vlahović has hit 15 goals in 19 games this season, has scored 6 goals in 10 games for Serbia and after wanting to stay at Fiorentina to guarantee playing time to continue to develop is keen on a move to the Premier League in the summer.

He will then be in the last year of his contract, hence the Italian club saying they would be willing to let him go in January for €70m (£59.75m - US$80.16m - AUS$109.29m) reports suggest.

I have seen recent reports that say Fiorentina will not accept less than
€60m (£51.22m - US$68.71m - AUS$93.67m), that they don't want to sell him in January and that they want around €80m (£68.29m - US$91.61m - AUS$124.90m).

At the lower fee I'd snap him up, but as I say, he wants to stay at Fiorentina until the summer and move then.

The striker has continually refused offers of a new contract and by Premier League terms wouldn't require exorbitant wages.

Fly in the Ointment

Borussia Dortmund could be a fly in the ointment if Erling Haaland left them for Manchester City or elsewhere.

The German club have already contacted his agents to discuss the possibility.

Another fly, Real Madrid.

Borja Mayoral is a 24-year-old (25 next April) striker playing at Roma, on loan from Real Madrid.

He is happy to join Fiorentina and has apparently already told his friends, which suggests the Italians accept Vlahović will leave.

Real Madrid want a €15m (£12.80m - US$17.18m - AUS$23.42) fee and they have asked about a deal involving Vlahović.

Mayoral is currently not getting the game time at Roma he wants.

Thirdly, Manchester City are watching the situation if they don't get Erling Haaland.

Juventus are another interested party but Fiorentina do not want to sell to a fellow Serie A club.

Juve want to include 21-year-old (22 next April) winger/midfielder Dejan Kulusevski in an exchange within an offer for Vlahović.

Kulusevski, who Tottenham are continually linked with, wants to remain at Juventus and carve out a career there, he is highly regarded, but on the other hand, isn't playing much.

As you can see, Paratici has a battle on his hands to secure the prolific goalscorer for Tottenham, either in the winter window or next summer.

Well that's it for this morning's offering folks.
