Tottenham Talk on Tuesday 27th

Fabio-Paratici

Hello folks, Tuesday has arrived already so I'm back with Tottenham Talk on Tuesday 27th.

Today there is some Spurs chat about Paratici and his negotiating before I move on to the Tottenham Transfer Talk, both in , out, present and future, plus a final Spurs chat about coaching.

Enjoy the read, as ever and thank you all for taking the time and trouble to read, do send links to your social media crowd.

A quick update of viewing figures.

Last months 50,802 figure was passed, as you know, but now 60,000 has passed (60,241) and we press on with a few days to go to try and hit the 70,000 mark.

THBN-Stats

How long have I been saying Daniel Levy values Harry Kane at a minimum £200m?

Now I see ITK folk are coming round and quoting this figure as ITK that Daniel levy is looking for, while journalist still seem to think £150m!

Fabio Paratici Negotiations

Delighted with the work Fabio Paratici is doing as he has turned the tables on players and agents.

It is all about control.

Previously, as we saw when we were in the UEFA Europa League for many years, players would say yes I will join you, if a better off from a Champions League club doesn't come in and it always did.

We were after the right targets but they had control, we had to wait for them and hope.

Well Fabio Paratici doesnt operate that way.

Paratici sets deadlines for players and agents, complete a deal by XYZ or the deal is off and we buy elsewhere.

Clubs around Europe have no money, they are desperate for deals, Sevilla are desperate to sell us Jules Koundé and get Dávinson Sánchez in return.

I told you at the outset they would push Koundé to agree despite his desire for UEFA Champions League football.

With Paratici setting the deadline and not the player or their agent, or indeed another club, the parties have had to make a decision.

Sevilla have had to decide do we wait until the Paratici deadline or go elsewhere?

Koundé and his agent have had to decide do they turn Spurs down and wait hopefully for someone else who will pay what Sevilla want?

Naturally his agent will have been talking to Real Madrid and any other interested party to determine what their intentions are and the strength of them, the likelihood of them happening.

They have then had to weigh that up against Paratici's deadline rather than wait until the end of the window.

In other words they are operating to our tune, not theirs, they are operating to our deadline, not theirs, we are in control, not them.

This is a significant change in our approach and one that seems to be bearing fruit.

It is bold and it wouldn't be achievable perhaps if Paratici didn't have such a proven track record and reputation within the game.

Did he operate this way for Juventus? To be honest I don't know.

If he did it's understandable, if he didn't then he has devised a strategy just for the specifics of this window.

Either way it is a welcome change.

Érik Lamela

Érik Lamela was in Spain on Sunday to complete his move to Sevilla as part of the Bryan Gil transfer to Tottenham.

As you may or may not know, his unveiling as a Sevilla player was pre-recorded on Sunday or at least they went through a dress-rehearsal on the big screen which has been plastered all over social media already.

Anthony Martial

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing 25-year-old (26 in December) Anthony Martial from Manchester United.

Martial has become surplus to requirements at the club following the arrival of Jadon Sancho, and United are desperate to offload him this summer write SportLens.

No we are not, that was a Pochettino request and Spurs have moved on since then.

We don't wish to pay anywhere near £50m for a striker who scored 7 goals in the whole of last season, one of those being in the League Cup.

Nor have we any intention of paying £250,000-a-week wages for someone who has just had a very poor season.

Alasdair Gold

I have this guy blocked.

This tweet shows a lack of awareness of how negotiations are conducted and how Tottenham operate.

1. Daniel Levy does not give a green light to begin negotiations, that would just totally undermine Paratici, who wouldn't be at the club if he had to work in that restrictive manner.
2. Daniel Levy does not give a green light to negotiations when they are already underway, only if Paratici puts a financial proposal to him on payment structure.
3. Paratici has been negotiating for a while and the Romero deal is basically done.
4. Paratici conducts the negotiations and has Levy give the green light to his completed negotiation.
5. Paratici is trusted with the rebuild, knowing the financial situation he has to work with.

This is as daft as suggesting we have only recently offered Dávinson Sánchez to Atalanta as I have seen these journalists suggest.

That isn't the way you conduct negotiations, you offer players at the outset to reduce your potential financial outgoing and to offload an unwanted player while freeing up their wages.

When that is extinguished you revert to cash discussions.

Throwing him into two sets of negotiations puts pressure on Sevilla too.

Joachim Andersen

Joachim-Andersen

This simply isn't true and demonstrates journalists at L'Equipe don't know how Tottenham operate.

We are in negotiations for two different centre-backs as you all know and expect to sign them.

Andersen's agents are told the situation, he was only a backup or fallback option for Spurs and that decision is down to our Managing Director of Football, Fabio Paratici, not Nuno Espirito Santo.

It seems it takes people a time to get used to our new set-up, even our own fans haven't adjusted yet, well not the anti-Levy crowd anyway as they still want him to blame, which tells you all you need to know about their judgement and opinions.

Hence the Social Media block list that allows my timeline to be filled with more positive people.

Dušan Vlahović

Dušan Vlahović is the man Fabio Paratici has earmarked to take over from Harry Kane if our star striker leaves us at any point, a point which might happen next summer if we don't show significant improvement this season.

Personally, I think we will show that improvement, personally I think we will be back in the UEFA Champions League.

Anyway, Vlahović scored SEVEN goals in a pre-season friendly for Fiorentina as they ran out 11-0 winners over Serie D side Foligno on Sunday.

He is expected to, and indeed I have reported twice that he wants to, remain at the Serie A side for another season as he feels that is best for the development of his game.

There is plenty of time left in the 21-year-olds (22 next January) career to then move to a bigger club.

Oliver Skipp

Oliver-Skipp

Now this highlights a coaching point I have made several times and even suggested a drill to counteract it, that was aimed at Harry Winks.

Oliver Skipp should know what passes he has on BEFORE he turns.

Once turned it is merely confirmation while in the act of preparing to make the pass.

Remember the drill?

Stop the training game, preferably while the ball is travelling having been passed to a player, and have the players close their eyes at the same time.

Then with eyes shut, have one player point to his passing options, point to where the opposition are.

This tells you what they have observed PRIOR to receiving the ball.

A player should NOT be ball watching, he needs to also know while he is off the ball where everyone is constantly, he should be constantly checking.

The great players like Pirlo do it and therefore seem to have more time on the ball.

That's because they know what they want to do with the ball BEFORE they receive it.

Obviously things can change and they have to change their mind, put plan B into operation, which is either your second option pass or a re-evaluation of the situation.

The third and final option is a pass backwards to a centre-back.

Vision is the difference between good and great, it should be standard coaching from junior age, but it isn't.

A player either does it naturally, or he doesn't. It is left to chance, it shouldn't be.

The Kaisen approach, I have mentioned it many time and spoke about it once in relation to players and player improvement.

If each player in a 25 man squad made two tiny improvements a month what would happen.

12 X 2 = 24, let's round that up to 25.

So 25 tiny improvements a year and an improvement could be foot positioning, the angle of a foot, vision, body shape, positioning, shooting, movement off the ball, awareness, mentality, confidence, anxiety control, diet, injury prevention,  anything, big or small.

25 improvements X 25 squad players = 625 improvements over the course of a season.

Are 625 improvements going to add up to a greater collective improvement, more goals and more points?

You bet they will.

Identify and record.

Identify the issue, record it, work on it, record results on an individual basis, record on-field results to quantify improvement.

Then individually and as a group you can demonstrate what the improvements have achieved and use that as added motivation to improve further.

Improvement never stops.

Motivating players never stops.

Coaching never stops and of course the same process has to happen as a coach and in every department of the club, in every individual, in every employee.

Look at the difference changing our transfer structure and hiring Fabio Paratici to conduct a rebuild is having.

Is the atmosphere surrounding Tottenham a positive or negative one?

Is it more positive now, than when he arrived?

Is there more hope for the season now, than before and when these signing are all announced, will that hope increase?

Are the players happier in their work?

The signs are all good.

Well I hope you have enjoyed your read, if you are an anti-ENIC anti-Levy type who cares if you haven't and thank you for helping to spread awareness of the site, my viewing figures are growing as a result!

Have a great day, a happy day and share the love, share a link to the site today, indeed perhaps I should instigate a Tottenham Hotspur Blog News (THBN) link sharing day.

Well there's a day for everything else!
