Tottenham Talk on Friday 23rd

Danny-Ings

Well good morning once again from Tottenham Hotspur Blog News (THBN) with Tottenham Talk on Friday 23rd incorporating some Tottenham Transfer Talk.

Just a few more reads to hit the 50,000 barrier this month so far, so Tottenham Hotspur Blog News (THBN) is guaranteed to blow last month's view figures out of the water.

THBN-Stats

Thank you once again, one and all, glad you are all enjoying the ramblings.

Let's crack straight on shall we.

Bryan Gil

Bryan Gil will wear the number 11 shirt at Spurs with just a medical needed after agreements were reached for the deal to go ahead.

Gil is a left-winger replacing a left winger and putting pressure on Steven Bergwijn, who Spurs will listen to offers for, but is far from certain to leave.

He does need to have more of an effect in areas of the pitch where it matters and not be the extra defender he seemed to be under Mourinho.

Gil recorded 43 accurate crosses last season, the 7th highest in LaLiga last season.

Incidentally the fee for him is £21.6m, with £4.3m of bonuses and I'm hearing a percentage of profit on a future sale, but I haven't had that confirmed.

It is going to be interesting how we utilise him as he is more of a traditional winger (beat his man and cross) than a player who cuts inside, although he can do that as well.

He crossed 122 times last season, the 5th highest in LaLiga.

Fans loved Lamela's tenacity and work-rate, well, Gil displayed those same qualities for Eibar.

Young and with body development still to take place, he is never the less an exciting prospect. I can't wait to see him play, he has the talent to develop into a real star.

Danny Ings

Danny Ings is the striker we want.

He is proven in the Premier League, homegrown and a proven goalscorer.

I was fully expecting Danny Ings to join Spurs late in this window.

Ings wants to come to us and, as I say, if the deal gets done it will be late in the window as with only a year left on his contract Southampton are simply asking too much at the moment.

We are again in the situation of waiting so that time pressure forces the price down, but if they keep him for the final year, then we will look to get a stop gap striker for a season and then pick him up on a free.

I'm also hearing that Paratici might not wait for Saints to lower their price.

You see now why I gave you the list of strikers you may have been underwhelmed with, they all fit the stop gap requirement.

Lorenzo Pellegrini

This is one I have not mentioned before, basically because there was nothing to say.

Tottenham are interested in Pellegrini, he has one year left on his contract and Roma are sticking to their guns demanding his full release fee clause of €30m (£25.90m - US$35.32m - AUS$48.30m) for him.

That clause is only available for another 10 days so it is hardly likely that anyone is going to trigger it.

Why would they, with only a year left on his contract he should be cheaper than that.

Roma intend to wait until near the end of the window to see if any offers come in near that figure and then decide what to do with their 25-year-old (26 next June) captain.

Pre Covid, so higher prices, and Pierre-Emile Højbjerg was bought for £15m (£12.95m - US$17.66m - AUS$24.15m) with only one year left on his Southampton contract.

Some people are suggesting they would rather have Houssem Aouar, they have probably never seen either play regularly, but from what I hear, Lyon are no longer in the financial predicament they were earlier in the window so they do not have to sell assets at reduced prices any longer.

They have let 6 players go this window, including Memphis Depay to Barcelona.

Aouar would now cost 35m (£30.24m - US$41.21m - AUS$56.35m) and Lorenzo Pelligrini ought to cost around €23.15m (£20m - US$27.26m - AUS$37.26m).

Tang Jiali

Chinese Super League title winning forward Tang Jiali, is to join Tottenham Hotspur Women on a season-long loan from Shanghai Shengli, subject to a work permit clearance.

“I am so happy to be joining Tottenham Hotspur. I am a big fan of Premier League football and I’ve always dreamt of playing in England. I can’t wait to arrive in London, and I hope I can help make it a successful season for the team.”

Head coach Rehanne Skinner spoke to the Spurs website about the arrival of the 26-year-old (27 next March) Chinese international (15 caps, 2 goals, most as a substitute).

“We are really excited to have a player of Tang’s quality coming to Spurs. She has been a prolific goalscorer in the Chinese Super League and instrumental in helping China in their successful Olympic qualifying campaign. The additional strengths Tang brings to the team will be key to our success moving into the new season.”

Serge Aurier

Manchester United and AC Milan can not agree a fee for 22-year-old (23 next March) Portuguese international (2 caps) right-back Diogo Dalot.

Dalot was on loan with the Serie A side last season but if they can't agree a fee then they may turn back to Tottenham's 26-year-old (27 in December) right-back Serge Aurier as an alternative.

Sports Breaks

Sportsbreaks.com has announced a partnership with Tottenham Hotspur as a Sports travel provider.

The company have announced an agreement to provide Official Ticket and Hotel Match Breaks for all of Tottenham Hotspur’s home fixtures for the upcoming 2021/22 season and beyond, including Premier League and all cup competitions.

Sportsbreaks will offer Official match tickets in the home end, East Premium Level 2, at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Fans will also receive a relaxed hospitality experience within the Travel Club Lounge, and will be offered a range of dedicated hotels to choose from.

The Tottenham Hotspur Supporters Trust (THST) may not value these fans but the club certainly do.

Fans who travel from abroad and likely to buy merchandising and enjoy some of the hospitality that the stadium has to offer, quite apart from the game of football they have come to see.

Rob Slawson is the Director of Sports Travel at Clarity Travel & Sportsbreaks.com and he spoke of his delight at reaching an agreement.

“Tottenham Hotspur is a club with great history and prestige, as well as a dedicated global fanbase. We’re delighted to be able to offer Official Ticket and Hotel Match Breaks and have been working endlessly to ensure fans will have the best possible experience on their return to live sport.

“Not many fans will have had the opportunity to experience Spurs’ brand-new stadium, therefore we’re itching to see the return of full-capacity grounds. Our fantastic Match Break packages will be available to fans around the world via Sportsbreaks.com and a visit to one of the best stadiums in world football is a must.”

Maxence Lacroix

Tottenham had/have an interest in Wolfsburg centre-back Maxence Lacroix, who, if you remember I told you would be staying at the German club for at least another season to continue his development.

The Bundesliga sides Sporting Director, Jörg Schmadtke, has turned down all offers and has now told the press that the Frenchman will be staying with them.

"Maxence is staying. Everyone knows now - and that's the most important thing."

Fabio Paratici

The silly statement that chairmen and agents are more likely to deal with Paratici than Daniel Levy is utter nonsense.

Despite what fans think, a business will deal with whoever they need to deal with, if they want a player.

Paratici though, does have an extensive contact base and is a workaholic who has taken on board the Tottenham remit of bringing quality young players who will grow in value and improve the squad.

Because of contract length, a lot of the players we are being linked to are under market valuation, thus the clubs insisting on prices as if their player has 3 years left on their contract are being pushed to the side at the moment.

The Italian watched the Development Squad play against Enfield on Tuesday to see what we have coming through the academy.

Tottenham have a new recuit off the pitch, Anthony Marshall, the Head of Media and Communications at Bournemouth.
