Ndombélé Individual Performance Video vs Man City

Tanguy-Ndombele
Tanguy Ndombele continued his impressive start for Spurs

Morning everyone, it looks like a sunny day down here on the coast already, the bird feeders are filled so I can glance up from the computer to see them eat, a crow hanging on and eating at the moment, next task is to fill the pond, got to keep the water level up so the frogs can get into the garden and feed.

With a cup of tea ready by my side and having read a comment, I thought I'd take a closer look at a very disciplined display from Tanguy Ndombélé, who has now played three games against Manchester City and not lost any of them. Let's hope he maintains that record for the rest of this season.

Ndombélé has now played two Premier League games, scored in one and provided an assist in the other. His general play as you'll see from the video is forward and the other standout from the video is the triangles, both sides were playing.

Manchester City were using this tactic, which you get taught at school, or at least I was, to play in triangles to pass opposition players. We look o use them to play out of defence when we are being pressed, hence movement off the ball being so important.

The easiest way to do that is through the video on my YouTube channel, THBN - Tottenham Hotspur Blog News. I'll regularly add individual performance videos that will help in allowing you to formulate a more informed opinion.

I am sure you have no doubt seen all the usual statistics from the game and while they can't tell you everything they can be informative so I have broken some down into 1st-Half vs 2nd-Half to see if changes made a half-time by Mauricio Pochettino worked.

Manchester City vs Tottenham Hotspur 1st-Half Statistics

52% Ball Possession 48%
13      Goal Attempts     1
5       Shots on goal       1

Manchester City vs Tottenham Hotspur 2nd-Half Statistics

Firstly you will note that Manchester City only had 5 shots on target in each half, we blocked more in the second half than we did in the first.

We didn't attack a lot but look at the difference in dangerous attacking statistics.

1st-Half
90   Attacks   21
46   Dangerous Attacks   3

2nd-Half
78   Attacks   22
58   Dangerous Attacks   12

Manchester City had less attacks, but more dangerous the stats say, but we made a significant difference to our attacks, roughly the same number but four times as many dangerous attacks in the second half.
