Spurs 3 FEET from GOLD

THE SUCCESS SERIES

Chapter 1 - Spurs 3 FEET from GOLD

Inspired by my own post, yes I do have a sense of humour, today I begin THE SUCCESS SERIES, taken from Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.

The famous book was written in 1937 and is the greatest self-development book of all time which incorporates the formula for success.

That was compiled from personal interviews with 500 hundred successful people from US presidents downwards including Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, Charles M. Schwab, and Andrew Carnegie.

It is still valid today and is a bible for anyone desiring of success. Understand how it is achieved and then analyse how Tottenham are applying it or even how Mauricio Pochettino is applying it, as it certainly shines through in all that our Argentinian manager does.

If you want to discuss this I would recommend popping across to the forum, registering and getting involved there. That way you can help others learn from and bring success to their lives while Spurs start lifting the inevitable trophies.

Spurs 3 FEET From GOLD

The Power of Thought

One of the most common causes of failure is the habit of quitting when one is overtaken by temporary defeat.

Think about that.

Tottenham are on the cusp of winning trophies, yet some of our supporters want to give up, change leadership and start again in a new direction, that may or may not be compatible with what we have.

Fans want Sugar Daddies, illegal Sugar Daddies if you are in Europe as owners can not pay for players or wages or give the club money for such, it's against Financial Fair Play (FFP), but they want it none the less and that is the whole basis of their defeatest change outlook.

I talk a lot about winning mentalities and failure mentality. It isn't just about trying to win a game.

A winning mentality will try to win at everything, cards, pool, winning is the fun, playing is not, it is a means to the fun. You enjoy it of course you do, but in your own head, if you lose, you ask yourself why, you ask what you could have done differently and this is just a game over a beer.

It's a totally different mindset.

When I played cricket in the Kent League, I would turn up before anyone else to practice bowling in the nets on my own for half an hour before everyone else started turning up. When they had arrived I'd do stretching exercises to get myself in the best possible shape to start the game, where I would be immediately involved.

As a result, I didn't give the batsman an easy start, the team knew exactly what they were going to get from me and counted on me for it.

If we lost they left me to my own devises for half an hour while I analysed the game in my head. I ended up captaining the side and enjoyed trying to find solutions to the problems the game threw up.

People who play for fun, the vast majority do not have a winning mentality, they think they do but it is a million miles from a winning mentality in reality.

The story in Think and Grow Rich is of an uncle of R.U. Darby which has become a famous inspirational story that is often shared in the self-help industry.

This uncle got caught up in the goldrush hysteria. He quit his job and bought a pick and shovel to mine gold, he wanted to Dig and Grow Rich.

He found a piece of gold, covered up the mine, went to his friends and relatives to show them his find and they invested in machinery to start mining on a bigger scale.

The resulting car of ore was mined and shipped to a smelter.

This showed he had one of the richest mines in Colorado. Just a few more cars and all debts would be gone, then the profits would start to roll in.

But the gold disappeared. He drilled on and on but all without success, the gold had vanished.

Darby gave up and sold all his machinery to a man who collected junk for a few hundred dollars.

The junk man called in a mining engineer who calculated the previous owner had no idea about fault lines. He calculated the gold was just 3 FEET AWAY and that is exactly where it was found.

The new owner mined millions.

Now, why do I tell you that story?

Well, Daniel Levy is that owner, Tottenham Hotspur are the machinery, the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, and League Cup are the gold.

Spurs are 3 FEET from gold.

Now is not the time to give up, now is not the time to change direction.

Here endeth the first lesson from Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.

See you in the forum folks.
