The Aston Villa game was a remake of the 1973 Glen Campbell number 'Give Me Back That Old Familiar Feeling'.

It was like the script to a Hollywood movie, there is adversity, there is an unsuccessful struggle, the hero steps up to do his things and when all is starting to look lost, evil is overcome and we all live happily ever after.

We conceded a sloppy goal while players at the back went to sleep to make life difficult for ourselves. We huffed and puffed but what we had just wasn't enough to beat our foe and then along came a hero.

He galvanized his followers and with renewed energy and one final push, we inflicted a telling blow. We turned the tide and drove the enemy back from whence they came.

An enemy vanquished.

Great as it is to win in this way, we do tend to make life hard for ourselves, which a slow start doesn't help. I do wish we wouldn't start games as if we had just woken up, crawled out of bed and hadn't had a wash yet to freshen up.

I remember Liverpool under Brendan Rodgers in his second season. Sturridge and Suarez would win games in the first half and Liverpool would just control the game in the second half.

Here at Tottenham under Harry Redknapp we used to play to be drawing 0-0 at half-time and try to win the game in the second half. It seems like we are trying to do that again but struggle with the not conceding bit.

I always felt we were playing not to lose at half-time under Harry and actually try to win in 45 minutes.

We do seem to have perfected the art of not scoring in the first half again!

In the Champions League at half-time we were losing 7 and drawing 6, we weren't in front at half-time in a single game throughout the tournament!

We scored in the first-half in just 2 games out of 13.

In the Premier League, we scored in the first-half in 19 games (50%).

We were ahead at half-time in 19 games, drawing 11 games and losing 8 games.

In the final 17 games of the Premier League season we scored in the first-half in 4 of them (5 goals), we conceded in 5 of them, all a single goal. Both sides didn't score in any of those games during that period.

This season has started the same way. I think that is definitely an area that needs addressing
