As you all know the press jumped the gun and Gareth Bale is not going to China. Couldn't see why he would unless Real Madrid has paid the £51m (€56.64m - $63.14m) and stipulated a clause that he could sign for a European side.

It seemed more a move for his agent than anything else but he would have been huge out there and the commercial opportunities would have been immense.

Contrary to some reports though, it would not have made him the world's highest-paid footballer, that belongs to Lionel Messi on €60m (£54.02m - $66.88m) a year.

That is more than the £1m-a-week that Gareth Bale was offered and that is just his basic wage, it doesn't include bonuses.

Real Madrid have had to have a rethink with the injury to Marco Asensio. James Rodriguez is no longer allowed to leave after 2 years on loan in Germany and it seems they will now keep Gareth Bale having done everything they can to force him to leave the club.

Zinedine Zidane will have to eat some humble pie.

They are confident of getting Paul Pogba from Manchester United but without having raised significant funds they will have to hold spending for future windows.

Could they come for Eriksen at half the price of Pogba?

It's possible but there are only 11 days to go in our window. I do not see us selling after the window has closed. The European window may be open but that doesn't allow us to buy a replacement.

The situation will be discussed with Eriksen again this week and we'll have to wait and see what the result of that is, It may be, wait until the end of the window, it may be, sign a new contract.

PSG keep talking about Danny Rose but they don't actually make any offers and nor have Juventus yet but Rose does have permission to speak to them so don't be surprised if you hear reports of him flying out to Turin.

As you know Sessegnon is his replacement. That deal and the Giovani Lo Celso deal will depend now on when we want to get them done. Pochettino and Levy will have their usual meeting.

Lo Celso will be finishing the holiday his social media accounts show him to still be on.

The Argentinian is not due back at Real Betis until tomorrow so I would assume he will be to be coming to London in the next couple of days, but I don't know of any medical boked yet.

It's the usual story from Turkey when they are interested in a player, a lot of noise, then a quiet spell, then either something happens or it doesn't. Victor Wanyama, like Erik Lamela, wants to remain at Spurs.

Both Galatasaray and Fenerbahce have shown interest, but Fenerbahce wanted a loan deal and we would prefer to sell him so I suspect we are waiting to see if any further offers come in.

Wanyama, Dier, Lamela should all be highly motivated to prove themselves worthy of a squad place once again which augurs well for the coming campaign.
