The Mourinho Rebuilding of Spurs

Good morning once again folks and in Tottenham Tittle Tattle today we have a mixture for you, Mourinho rebuilding, a video analysis of Wout Weghorst, a look at the Arkadiusz Milik situation and news of Milan Škriniar too.

José Mourinho is rebuilding and it is a big rebuild because our players do not have a winning mentality, they are just good players trying their best, but that isn't good enough if you want to win trophies, as I have kept banging on about.

Obviously there are exceptions like Harry Kane, Hugo Lloris, Son heung-min.

The trouble is, how much is our squad worth?

If you offload Moussa Sissoko you are going to get, well let me give you an example, Toulouse have offered £5 million (€5.5m - US$6.45m) for him.

That isn't going to rebuild anything, unless you are picking up free transfers.

Cameron Carter-Vickers isn't going to bring in much, Juan Foyth would only allow us to bring in one player.

Dele could raise money for several positions but probably only two clubs have the money to buy him and one of them is looking at a potential loan deal.

I have come across a video explaining the game of giant Wolfsburg striker Wout Weghorst, take a look.

For those who only know his name this video will be a nice eye opener for you and give you an idea of what we see in him.

We have agreed personal terms with Weghorst and negotiations on a price are not thought to be difficult either.

He is one option.

Perhaps some people are now starting to see that it is the end of the window that matters, not part way through it with news that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is now working on a double signing of the Napoli pair of centre-back Milan Škriniar and striker
 Arkadiusz Milik.

I reported the Milik news yesterday and explained the complications surrounding him but the £55.18 million (€60m - US$70.09m) being asked for Škriniar is a stumbling block.

We see his valuation nearer £32.23 million (€35m - US$40.93m).

As reported earlier in he window, Inter will only consider a cash deal for Škriniar who has turned us down previously during discussions of a swap deal involving Tanguy Ndombélé.

The situation is slightly different now because they have sold Diego Godin, a right-sided centre-back leaving Škriniar as their only right-sided centre-back now.

Napoli officials and Milik's agent will be in London today to meet with Daniel Levy and are said to be ready to do a deal for Milik.

That's because Alvaro Morata had his medical with Juventus yesterday, Atlético Madrid have agreed a deal with Luis Suarez, meaning Eden Dzeko looks like he is staying at Roma (was an option for both Juventus and Atlético) thus there is no strikers berth available.

A deal had been agreed with Roma, a loan with obligation to buy for £16.58 million (€18m - US$21.04m) plus up to £6.45 million (€7m - US$8.18m) in add-ons and bonuses.

Milik though could not reach terms with Napoli on his exit, because Napoli are selling him he is entitled to a pay-off, even though it is he who has refused to sign a contract and effectively forced their hand.

However, further reports suggest Roma wanted to change the terms of the deal and Napoli didn't, further reports suggest there is an image rights issue between Napoli and Milik so it all sound rather complicated.

I understand the problem is the matter of a disputed £920,600 (€1m - US$1.17m) between player and club, regarding outstanding wages, fines and image rights.

Milik is specific as to where he wants to go, Juventus first choice, Roma second choice, Tottenham third choice so Napoli are rather backed into a corner with two of those options unavailable.

Milik, who only has 9 months left on his contract, will hold a conference call with Tottenham today as well.

There are various reports suggesting he wants between £62,000-a-week and £90,000-a-week salary.

Napoli want £23.02 million (€25m - US$29.22m) but Daniel Levy will want that figure below £18.41 million (€20m - US$23.37m).

Milik has scored 48 goals in 122 games for SSC Napoli, since joining from Ajax in 2016.

Fulham, Newcastle and Arsenal are or have been interested, indeed Newcastle previously made a bid but I understand Milik isn't interested in joining either club.

Valencia are also interested.

Signing two more non-homegrown or association trained players would mean moving out existing non-homegrown players so still plenty of activity to come at Tottenham this transfer window.
