Barcelona informed Frenkie de Jong that they would sell two midfielders to make way for him as he wanted to ensure he would play enough and not sit on the bench at Barcelona, they also promised him they would do everything they could to sign Matthijs de Ligy.

There offer for de Ligt isn't the best, they agree to pay Ajax the fee but are relying on the fact they re Barcelona and win trophies to get him to sign. Ajax have left it up to the player where he goes as long as they get the figure they are asking for and all clubs are willing to pay it as he is sensibly priced.

Wanting midfielder to leave and getting them to leave are to different matters and Spanish paper Sport are now confirming that Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu has placed Malcom on the transfer list so clubs know he is available.

They paid €41m plus an additional €1m in bonuses for him last summer and want to recoup that money. The problem for other clubs now is that his wage demands will have increased from when he was at Bordeaux.

When signing for Barcelona, Monchi, the Director of Sport at Roma was waiting for him at the airport in Rome. However, he went to Spain and increased his wages, wages which he will now want matching, which may prove an issue for some clubs.

Malcom received criticism in France for light-hearted videos and pictures with opponents when they had lost games. That raises questions whether he has a winning mentality or not or whether he is just another football with some talent. The best have both elements, the average have one.

The 22-year-old (23 next February) Brazilin Under-23 international right-sided inverted winger only played 1,067 minutes this season, 608 in LaLiga, 420 in the Copa del Rey and just 39, spread over 3 games, in the Champions League.

Until April he had only played one full game in LaLiga and when the title was basically secure they then started to give him game time. The last 3 games of the season they gave him a full game and two games of 78 and 73 minutes.

In the last 9 games of the season, 3 of which he sat on the bench unused, they gave him 438 of the 608 minutes.

P.S. You can disregard all the stories of clubs being interested in Barcelona striker Ousmane Dembélé as he is not for sale despite attitude issues. The Spaniards are hoping he will grow out of it next season.
