Spurs Continue To Push For N'dombélé

Spurs Continue To Push For N'dombélé

Transfer Talk 29 May 2019

In Transfer Talk this morning, Tottenham are continuing with their efforts to sign Lyon central midfielder Tangay N'dombélé and French Football now report that the fee may rise to around £61.76 million (€70m).

Newspaper L'Equipe report that Lyon have engaged super agent Pini Zahavi to sell N'dombélé and to get between £70.67 million (€70m) and £88.21 million (€100m) for him. That seems a little over the top and would surely have to include a chunk of add-ons to protect against any potential failure in a new country and a new league.

If a player fails, you need to be able to sell him for at least what you paid for him, if not a profit, anything less impacts on your transfer spend in future windows.

Thus far, none of the interested parties, which include Juventus, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Arsenal reportedly, are willing to meet those demands.

The French international (he has 4 full caps) is clearly one of our main targets this window to strengthen an area where we have had a lot of injuries.

Mousa Dembélé succumbed to his injuries, he could no longer handle the physical demands of Premier League football with his perennial leg problems, Victor Wanyama has been injured for two seasons basically, Harry Winks has had an injury-plagued career to date and Eric Dier has been absent for large parts of the season too.

N'dombélé is wanted by a host of top clubs around Europe but Spurs seemed to be heading the queue.
