Talking Tottenham on Tuesday with THBN

Talking Tottenham on Tuesday with THBN

Good morning folks, isn't it great when a plan comes together.

Yes a plan, a vision that was put to Antonio Conte, where money was discussed, where an agreed strategy was devised, which prompted Antonio Conte to agree to sign for us and lead the next stage of our evolution.

Why then, in the meantime, have journalists forgotten that took place?

Why have we had all this nonsensical talk of him leaving?

Because of the inability of woke generation journalists to understand a bigger picture, to understand goal setting, to understand how you develop success.

This summer there was always going to be investment in the team, I have been reporting that for a year now and reminded you all in January that Conte was planning for the season coming, not buying for the season we were in.

Why would he be doing that if he wasn't going to be here?

Conte has known all along about our investment this summer and has simply kept up the pressure in press conferences ofr the owners and chairman to deliver on their promises.

Unfortunately our journalists misinterpreted what they hear and write for their agenda, rather than report the facts, something which seems to have largely gone out the window with the current crop of pretenders.

Fabio Paratici was brought in and given control over transfers, given control over football and given a transfer budget and wages budget to use as he saw fit.

At Juventus he had a history of bringing in high quality free transfers, some 13 in 10 years.

He has begun to repeat that at Spurs with the signing of Ivan Perišić.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan

Inter have told Roma that they have reached an agreement with free agent Henrikh Mkhitaryan, the attacking midfielder linked with Spurs last week.

Ivan Perišić

Arsenal fans and even some of our own fans question whether Perišić is too old at 33, yet Luka Modrić (37 in September) and Karim Benzema (35 in December - 44 goals, 15 assists) have just won the UEFA Champions League!

They beat the best Liverpool team of all time apparently who won two domestic cups 0-0.

As reported, his wages are £98,000 a week not the figure from Mike McGrath in The Telegraph.

Tottenham have formally informed Inter that we have reached agreement with Perišić over a free transfer and their CEO of Sport has acknowledged his leaving to the Italian press.

Djed Spence

I hear nobody was impressed with Djed Spence, probably the first time most have seen him. I didn't watch the game myself but if we do activate the agreement we have with Middlesbrough, what next for Japhet Tanganga?

Surely Matt Doherty is the #1 right-back after his pre-injury form, a vast turnaround from the level he was playing at.

Does Conte see Tanganga as a right-back or a centre-back or does he just see him as expendable?

Will the pre-season tour of South Korea tell us anything?

If we bought Spence, is the plan to loan him straight out for the season, say to Nottingham Forest?

Gleison Bremer

The Italian press are reporting that Bremer has an informal agreement with Torino to leave for 'a reasonable fee' which Inter interpret as being between €25-30 million, according to the print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

He has a release clause allowing him to leave in January for just €15m (£12.78m) so it is in Torino's best interests to reach a deal this summer. All this was agreed to to get him to sign a contract extension last summer until 2024.

Inter are hoping that other clubs don't push up the asking price to around €50m (£42.6m).

Inter and Bremer have already agreed a move if they can get him for €25-30 million (£21.3m-25.56m).

Naturally Alessandro Bastoni won't be allowed to leave Inter until they have signed his replacement, hence the delays not as was made up by a reporter yesterday that he was reluctant to leave Inter.

To me that just shows the reporter has a lack of understanding of the transfer process, given the centre-back has already assured Conte personally that he will come to Tottenham.

A deal for Bremer is close according to yesterday's print edition of Milan-based newspaper Libero.

They suggest Torino are asking for €30 million (£25.56m) for Bremer and Inter's initial offer will be a player plus cash one.

Milan Škriniar

Milan Škriniar is with the Slovakia national team at their training camp and has spoken about links to Spurs.

“I have a contract with Inter and I’m happy in Milan. These rumours come around like clockwork every year or six months and there’s nothing to them – I’m satisfied in Milan.”

Inter again won a trophy last season, winning the Coppa Italia by beating Juventus. They came second in Serie A so there is a good reason to stay there.

Gabriel Jesus

I have seen further reports that Antonio Conte does not want Gabriel Jesus, that he was offered to Tottenham and we declined interest in signing him.

If you take that as the case then we are not in a race with other clubs as our fine upstanding reporters report...for advertising clickbait.

Journalism

If you read Italian reports there is no mention of Alessandro Bastoni not wanting to leave Inter, only references that the British press are reporting that.

In fact it is just one journalist coming up with that fake news, presumably unaware that Conte and Bastoni have spoken on the phone.

Perhaps he needs to read Tottenham Hotspur Blog News (THBN) to stay better informed! LOL

Journalism is not like in my Uncle's day, he was in the trade, where they needed contacts and journalism was more fact based.

Now they just scour the Internet and make stuff up if there is no genuine news and we live in a world that thinks there should be news every day because they think a club should be working on everything simultaneously seven days a week.

If journalism were fact based and not newspaper angle based, as Simon Jordan points out, then they would all be reporting roughly the same thing about a player, but they aren't.

Research often reveals a different story to what our journalists write.

I have seen many changes since my time writing for you, seen things I start gather momentum, seen my information reproduced, so I'll keep badgering and if it upsets people, so what.

So, having said all that, let's do some speculating!

What transfer fees might we receive this summer?

We have a list of players we are willing to let go, as per every summer transfer window and all of them won't leave.

Sergio Reguilón - £25m
Harry Winks - £20m
Steven Bergwijn - £20m
Tanguy Ndombele - loan?
NOW SOLD - Giovanni Lo Celso - £15.34m + £5.96m in bonuses. Total £21.3m
Bryan Gil - loan?
Cameron Carter-Vickers - £6m

There is £92.3m from players likely to leave.

Agreement has been reached with Villarreal for the sale of Giovanni Lo Celso who appears more suited to the Spanish game.

I have convinced myself that Djed Spence, if bought, will be loaned straight back out, which means Emerson Royal might not leave, although we'll listen to offers.

Will it be a sale or a loan for Joe Rodon?

What is the future of Japhet Tanganga.

Then there is the error prone Davinson Sánchez who put in decent performances as cover for Romero but lacks the passing ability.

The errors were less, is he one of the players Conte has changed his mind about? Will he remain as a back-up or will we accept a decent offer? Will a decent offer come in?

Jack Clarke, surely we are going to sell him, he has gone backwards hasn't he? What would he be worth £5m?

It seems we could raise £100m from sales with no great effort.

Midfield Issue

It would appear with all the talk that Harry Winks will be the player to leave Spurs, he of course doesn't want to, rather than Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, who would raise more revenue.

I don't have an issue with Højbjerg staying, it wouldn't matter if I did would it, even though I suggested we could buy an upgrade.

Clearly we have an eye on the homegrown situation and with Fraser Forster coming in can afford to let a homegrown outfield player leave.

Conte has spoken about how he can trust Winks and Winksy will have given all he can in training so it won't be for want of trying that he hasn't impressed Conte enough.

We hear Southampton, Everton, Sevilla, so all the usual suspects, plus newly promoted Fulham are interested in the former England international.

He didn't impress another serial winner in Mourinho so perhaps that should tell him something. He has never been the same since his ankle injury.

Will Weston McKenny be his replacement, we'll see.

Giovanni Lo Celso has left, as per the fees above.

Birthdays Matter

Now this is something you may not be aware of, but when you are born has a bearing on whether you'll make it as a footballer.

I post ages and their month and you may have noticed there are an awful lot from February, but not that many from November or December.

Yes some make it, but most don't.

Generally January and February are the lowest birth rates, July, August, September the highest.

A study of German football for instance, found 82 players born in January or February and just 12 born in November or December.

It is a factor clubs take into account.

Tottenham Talk on Tuesday

A study of the 2014 World cup showed the same bias across the tournament.

Football associations and confederations use January 1 as a cut-off date for eligibility, thus a player born on 1st January goes in the same age group as a player born 31st December of the same year.

One is clearly going to be more developed than the other so effectively you get an extra year out of a player born in January than you do December.
