Talking Tottenham on Thursday
Another piece written BEFORE (as posted on Twitter) the £150m injection into the club from ENIC.
I do find the media narrative comical, none of them understand business at all, and Jim White confirmed this with his comments on talkSPORT while Simon Jordan was putting him right.
None of these journalists think like a coach does (Conte) or a chairman (Levy) hence they write what they think a situation would be in their shoes, rather than what it actually is.
It's why Simon Jordan stands out on talkSPORT as the only one worth listening to.
Fans know no different and go along with this make believe assuming it to be real, even though time and time again it is shown not to be the case.
Reporters are like our anti-Spurs faction who can only see evil in our owners and chairman and not any good. They don't want to see anything else thus their narrative remains incorrect.
Reporters want drama, as drama sells clicks to the gullible, which in turn drives advertising revenue.
For those of you who haven't listened to Jordan and White talking about the £150m injection into Tottenham by ENIC, Simon Jordan says it would have been agreed and guaranteed with Conte and to Conte that this cash injection would happen this summer, or he simply wouldn't have signed a contract.
He also stated that the length of contract is also undoubtedly Conte doing, Conte's request.
That way if the money didn't come it wouldn't cost another club a fortune to pay that compensation and sign him.
It was Conte's way of ensuring the agreed plan was stuck to.
From Tottenham's point of view, we get a trial of what Conte can do at the club.
Both parties are clearly happy with how it has gone so the media narrative of a meeting to convince him to stay is fantasy.
They then changed it to Paratici is presenting him with this package to get him to stay to now it only being a transfer meeting to agree targets.
They haven't a clue.
Oh for a brighter set of journalists.
Extra Rest Affects Results
Anyone who is a betting man and pays attention to when fixtures are played and their results will know that it is statistically proven that the team who have had the extra rest outperform the other side.In other words, it is better to play UEFA Champions League football than it is to play UEFA Europa League or UEFA Conference League football.
The combinations:
Tuesday Saturday 3 days
Tuesday Sunday 4 days
Wednesday Saturday 2 days
Wednesday Sunday 3 days
as opposed to Thursday Sunday 2 days.
You can see from that that you get more rest, usually it is Tuesday Saturday and Wednesday Sunday, 3 days rest.
Statistically that one days extra rest makes a difference to results, always worth taking into account lower down the divisions if you like a flutter.
Right, let's talk transfers shall we.
Tottenham Transfer Talk
Fabio Paratici doesn't get on with everyone. He has a wide circle yes, but take the CEO of Inter, Giuseppe Marotta, he states he is not on good terms with Paratici.
- Denzel Dumfries
- Stefan de Vrij
- Lautaro Martínez
- Ivan Perišić
- Milan Škriniar
- Alessandro Bastoni
We are not going to get a bargain if the two negotiating parties do not get on are we, they try and sting us for every penny.
Now why are our reporters not telling you something rather important like this?
I don't see many journalists saying who might be going out the door at Tottenham either.
You could make quite a list so not all will go, but you could perhaps select from:
- Pierluigi Gollini
- Emerson Royal
- Sergio Reguilón
- Davinson Sánchez
- Joe Rodon
- Cameron Carter-Vickers
- Pierre-Emile Højbjerg
- Tanguy Ndombele
- Giovanni Lo Celso
- Steven Bergwijn
- Bryan Gil
- Jack Clarke
- Harry Winks
Conte has been impressed with our squad and he has changed his mind about a couple of players.
That isn't to say he wouldn't accept upgrades, but he'd also be happy with them if they stayed.
Winks, Sánchez, Doherty, Sessegnon and Emerson Royal are a few that have shown him the commitment to improve that the Italian has been looking for.
What will happen to 19-year-old (20 in September) forgotten man Pape Matar Sarr? Presumably Conte will have a look at him on our pre-season tour.
Christopher Nkunku
Tottenham have been watching 24-year-old (25 in November) Bundesliga Player of the Year Christopher Nkunku.
The RB Leipzig striker or second striker scored 20 goals and had 15 assists in 34 Bundesliga games.
In total, in all competitions, he scored 35 goals and had 20 assists.
Formerly at PSG, he has flourished at Leipzig and they made it into the Champions League by a point making a transfer more difficult.
His contract renewal hinged on it according to the Deutschen Presse-Agentur. The French international (2 caps) would only renew his contract, which is set to expire on June 30, 2024, by one further year if they qualified.
However, it is expected that Nkunku's new contract will include an exit clause that can be activated in 2023, and the winger would be allowed to leave the Red Bulls for €65 million.
L'Équipe have only recently reported that he has told teammates that he wants to leave the German club this summer to take the next step in his career.
In addition to ourselves, Manchester United, Chelsea and Bayern Munich are all eyeing him up.
Dejan Kulusevski
"There is no ceiling for us. So that’s what we have to do. The summer is our time to work, to get better, and we’ll put in the work, that’s for sure.”
Wilfried Singo
A right-back we have identified is Ivory Coast international (2 caps) Wilfried Singo.
The 21-year-old (22 in December) contributed to 15% of Torino's goals scored while he was on the pitch.
His contract runs out in 2023 but Torino do have an extra year option.
Summer Transfer Window
By the way people, the transfer window isn't open, it doesn't open until 10th June.
