Alli Needs To Improve

Alli Needs To Improve

From not looking like we could score more than one goal a game to ten goals in three games.

It is clear some of the players had stopped playing for Mauricio Pochettino, who was a victim of the clubs approach in the transfer market.

He wanted players sold two years ago, now those players re in the last year of their contract and we have a problem next summer. Where Mourinho will play them (use all the resources at his disposal to get Champions League football) Pochettino had told them they would not be an automatic first choice, thus causing a problem.

We are where we are and Daniel Levy acted to prevent Arsenal from getting Mourinho it appears and as he is a serial winner I'm not complaining.

Mourinho has been very lucky inheriting a squad underperforming and thus still with a chance of achieving.

We see he has simply moved Dele to the number 10 position and told him he will keep him there which has resulted in improved performances. Where I differ from supporters is that I see plenty more room for improvement, at least 3 of his passes in and around the box were dreadful.

Three goalscoring opportunities lost through sloppy under-hit and over-hit passes. It was very frustrating to watch.

Praise for what he did and has done, but room for improvement.

Comfortably winning and try to throw it away seems to be a recurring theme.

Why?

In a nutshell, confidence or overconfidence.

Since Robbie Keane days I have been saying we need to train ourselves to be clinical when we are 3-0 up and again we were wasteful in front of goal.

If you are clinical then close games you can score when you have a chance, as you remain calmer, more focussed. It means you drop fewer points, but we continue to be complacent.

It is important to teach ourselves to make the right pass at the right weight at the right time. Against West Ham, Moura was through, against Bournemouth Son was through, neither scored.

Poor passing is down to a lack of concentration, a lack of focus, a lack of determination. At many times we are, 'well it doesn't matter, we are winning' mode. We tend to go through the motions and sides punish us for it.

It happens in defence as well as attack. Is that the mentality of a trophy-winning side?
