OK We Won

OK We Won

OK-we-won

OK we won.

Jose Mourinho spoke after the game and was asked about Dele Alli and during the answer Mourinho mentioned he will benefit from tactical stability, which I take to mean, he will play in his best position and not be shunted around the midfield.

If he is to be the number 10, then Christian Eriksen will have to play elsewhere, if he shows any commitment to the club, which clearly he has not been doing this season. Again Mourinho wouldn't have mentioned that in interviews if it were clear.

I have already written about goal kicks and that we had to stop this ridiculous situation of two centre-backs in the box taking the ball off the keeper to put ourselves under undue pressure and allow the opposition to press us as high up the pitch as they can.

That was thankfully out of the window.

Mourinho mentioned mentality several times after the game too, the mental barrier of not winning away from home, of not hanging on to leads, mentality that now needs to be rebuilt.

He spoke of Dele's piece of skill while on the floor in the build-up to the second goal and immediately talked about mentality, that it only happens when mentally you are in a positive way.

He was asked about music in the dressing room after the game and again another telling comment, lost on the reporters.

"When you go away, the music after the game I like because a victory is something that you have to value, it's hard to win matches. We work hard in these two days, the boys they work hard, today is something that you have to value.

"You can not win a match and just leave it like "OK we won," the same way you can not lose a match and a couple of hours later you are in the nightclub enjoying with your friends

"You have to value defeat, you have to value victory. When you lose you have to feel it too so I was happy, the music was loud, I don't care which music it is I just like the feeling that the boys are happy and the boys are happy."

That, particularly the point I have highlighted, is what separates all you guys, from guys who have a winning mentality. The majority forget the game immediately it has finished basically, shower, change and off for a beer as soon as possible.

That is not a winning mentality.

Hurt is a winning mentality, you shouldn't want to do anything after a defeat for a period, not even shower. You should be despondent, you should be thinking about it, about your contribution. You should be looking at yourself in the metaphorical mirror and asking yourself whether you can hold your head up high before you look at anyone else's contribution.

Mourinho wins things because he has a winning mentality. The question is can he instil that in the players? He struggled to at Manchester United, even though he won a League Cup and the Europa League there. Ultimately the players brought in didn't come around to that way of thinking.

My wish is that ours do.
