Tweaking, not massive spending on the horizon

Arguably the best thing Jose Mourinho can do now is to take Christian Eriksen under his wing and convince him that if he wants to move to one of the big two in Spain then he needs to show them that he can take Tottenham's season by the scruff of the neck and turn it around to the extent the club win something and finish second.

He needs to convince him that he is the general that sends us on a 12 game winning streak and an unbeaten streak that lasts the rest of the season.

H needs to do that with all the players who are leaving to get the best out of them as well as developing the youth and the rest of the players in the squad.

The slate is wiped clean.

Mourinho knows he won't have the money to spend that he would have had at Manchester United. Daniel Levy isn't going to change his approach but the club doesn't need a fortune spent, the basis is there.

Spurs are only 3 points off 5th place and our season in the Premier League may now hinge on how we perform against the other top sides.

Tottenham have been one of the best sides defensively so getting the defence back performing and adding even just a couple of high-quality players could be all that is needed.

What we are not going to see is a mass clearout in the summer.
