Spurs put Dani Ceballos deal on hold

Good morning (well it is here in the UK) from Tottenham Hotspur Blog News (THBN) and I'm waiting to hear about the outcome of the William Saliba talks. I'll bring you that news when I have it.

This morning I wanted to bring you the latest on the pursuit of Dani Ceballos, but before I do that,a reminder that there are further stories, some withinside snippets not available to the press, under THBN Articles - Further Reading below this article and Popular Posts can be found in the righthand sidebar of the THBN website.

Right, onto the latest news on Dani Ceballos.

The deal is on hold.

Real Madrid are refusing to budge on the Ceballos purchase option.

They want to keep control over whether he is sold next summer or not. If he has a good season with us, then they would want to have the decision whether they sell him or keep him.

That is of no use to us at all, we do not improve players and increase their value for other clubs, hence we don't loan players in.

Spurs, naturally, wants control over whether we buy the midfielder next summer or not after we see how he handles the Premier League.

It would be madness to leave the decision at the whim of Real Madrid. Spurs are not a nursery club for Real Madrid.

As a result, we may walk away from the deal. Arsenal will have the same situation and they won't agree to it either I'm sure so we will have to wait and see if Real Madrid relent.
