Isco, Eric Dier & Youngsters Going on Pre-season Tour

Eric-Dier
Eric Dier will stay at Hotspur Way and rehabilitate after surgery

I see the Evening Standard and the comics at HITC are talking and suggesting midfielder Isco for Spurs.

I can tell you Tottenham no longer hold an interest in Isco. I indicated in a previous article that I thought he was too old.

The Spanish international is a 27-year-old (28 next April) now and Real Madrid are looking for around €90m (£80.80m - $101.59m) for him.

That is simply too expensive a player of his age who isn't even a first choice regular and has no experience of the Premier League.

He might be in his prime now, but in 3 years he is 30 and starting to lose value. Just look at Alderweireld.

The Belgian is 30 and nobody wants to pay £25 million (€27.84m - $31.43m) for him or pay his £180,000-a-week (€200,483 - $236,235) wage demands. He simply doesn't have enough years left in the game so there is no hope of getting your money back.

Eric Dier, who is available for the right price will miss the pre-season tour of Singapore and Shanghai to stay at Spurs and undergo a short period of rehabilitation after surgery.

This is what pre-season tests are all about, they tell the club exactly where a player is at in a period of recovery and Dier is not advanced enough. A small issue was detected during these tests and rectified quickly.

It will be a frustrating start to the season for him, but this season will have the cover and he will have a fight on his hands to force his way into our midfield. He needs to be looking to improve his game this season after first getting back to the level he was a couple of seasons ago.

Youngsters who will be going on our pre-season tour are:

  • 17-year-old (18 next February) Troy Parrott (striker)
