Transfer Talk - Sandro, Costa, Mahrez

TRANSFER TALK

Tottenham target Sandro Ramirez, the former Barcelona player who left for free, although with a contract that included a buyback clause, to Malaga is close to securing a move to Sevilla, according to Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo.

That will dash the hopes Spurs had of signing him. Our interest in the 21-year-old (22 in July) has cooled recently, presumably because discussions revealed his first choice was to stay in Spain. We can't wait to see if that falls through given we have other targets and he may not be our first choice anyway.

Juventus are going after Bayern Munich winger 26-year-old (27 in September) Douglas Costa according to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport. You would expect him to join Juventus over Spurs, not that that is his only choice.

Conveniently, new Leicester City boss Craig Shakespeare insists he is unaware of any gentleman's agreement with 26-year-old (27 next February) Riyad Mahrez over allowing him to leave this summer. We seem to hear this regularly in football now, a gentleman's agreement that a player thinks he can leave and the club then still decide he can't.

As I have written before, if you are going to have a gentleman's agreement, then you must negotiate a figure for an exit, not the very grey area of a suitable offer.
