The Daily Mirror are reporting that Midlands club Aston Villa are hoping to beat Premier League sides Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, Manchester United, Southampton, West Ham United and Arsenal to the signature of 19-year-old (20 in December) Barnsley right-back James Bree.
Steve Bruce is said to be ready to part with £4 million to secure his services, but if he is that highly thought of he will surely go for more than that in the current transfer climate. Barnsley will not be wanting to lose an important player mid-season so will no doubt resist all offers or arrange a loan back if they are forced into selling through financial pressures or the players wishes.
Bree is just one of a whole host of youngsters we keep tabs on from the lower leagues. The likes of Dele Alli don't come along every day, but you have to keep looking, you never know when one will appear.
