Italian press suggest Spurs are chasing Ranocchia

TRANSFER TALK

While Mauricio Pochettino has said there is no need for Tottenham Hotspur to buy centre-back reinforcements, the Italian press have ignored that and suggested we are set to make a late run for Inter Milan defender Andrea Ranocchia.

Tuttosport suggest the 28-year-old (29 in February) Italian international, who has only started five games at the San Siro this season, is being chased by Spurs. They go on to suggest we could do with defensive reinforcements with the injury to Jan Vertonghen likely to keep him out for 10 weeks.

His current deal runs out in the summer of 2019 and he earns £20,000-a-week. This looks to be pure speculation from the Italian media as he doesn't fit our transfer policy or player profile.

  1. Stories about foreign players who aren't even getting decent playing time at home are mostly down to an agent or a club trying to maximise their interests. This one seems to fit that profile well.

Tuttosport and calciomercato seem to appear most regularly in such releases.
