Premier League clubs spent more than £155m on transfer deadline day this summer with the total summer transfer window outlay reaching a record £1.165bn, with 13 top-flight teams breaking their own transfer records.

As the new window approaches on 01 Jan, just 25 days away, here is a quick roundup od the transfer stories currently doing the rounds in the media and on the Internet.

Italian giants Juventus look set to beat Premier League sides Arsenal and Chelsea to the signing of Lyon's 22-year-old (23 next August) France Under-21 midfielder Corentin Tolisso, who the French club value at £35m.

South coast club Southampton are facing a battle to keep Manchester United and Everton target Jose Fonte after contract talks broke down with the 32-year-old (33 later this month) Portugal central defender.
