Spurs watching versatile Swede Lindlof

A follow up to my report that we had a scout at the Tondela vs Benfica match in Portugal, so did Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea. they were all watching 22-year-old (23 next July) Swedish centre-back Victor Lindlof.

He has 4 international caps after playing 13 times at Under-21 level. He is right-footed and is under contract until 2020. You would expect us to keep an eye on him while we see ho Cameron Carter-Vickers performs this season, although we always have to bear in mind a replacement for Toby Alderweireld should we ever need one.

Lindlof moved to Portugal in 2012 and into the first team set-up in 2015 at Benfica. He can also cover right-back as well as defensive midfield.

The Swedish international has played 68 times as a centre-back, 22 times as defensive midfield, 12 times as a right-back, 1 in central midfield and 1 as a left-back. Just the sort of versatility that allows Pochettino to work with a smaller group of players and keep them all involved, which can aid squad harmony and player satisfaction. All players want to play in their best position, but they would rather play in any position than not play at all.
