Transfer Headlines

Everton - England centre-back John Stones has decided he wants to eave Everton for a bigger club, he has informed them he wants to join Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, according to The Sun.

While moving to Manchester City often means the end of playing regularly for many British players, it might just be different for John Stones. Guardiola like ball playing centre-backs and Stones, while being error prone, likes to play from the back. The 22-year-old has informed Toffees' new manager Ronald Koeman he wants to leave Goodison Park this summer which won't go down well with the fans and won't be what Koeman wants.

Manchester City - Germany and Real Madrid midfield star Toni Kroos has been linked with a return back to his former club, Bayern Munich, but he told Sport Bild magazine he wouldn't go back to the Bundesliga. Kroos has also been linked with a move to Manchester City but when asked  the 26-year-old insisted his focus is entirely on the European Championship semi-finals.

"I ruled out quite a while ago playing for a club in Germany again and this is still the case. We're in a tournament here where my total focus is on the semi-finals. You know that you should never rule anything out in football, but I enjoy a great deal of respect from Real."

Middlesbrough - The Daily Mail report that Middlesbrough are in the market for a striker and are taking an interest in 32-year-old Robin van Persie who has been made available by Fenerbahce. Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka is looking to build a squad to keep the newly promoted North East side in the Premier League next season. Middlesbrough join Crystal Palace, West Ham United and Stoke City in pursuit of the former Manchester United and Arsenal striker.

They are looking  to secure the services of 34-year-old former Barcelona goalkeeper Víctor Valdés who is booked in for a medical on Thursday. Middlesbrough have held talks with the keeper released by Manchester United and therefore available on a free transfer. Sporting Lisbon and Besiktas are also after his signature..
