Serie A or Premier League for Witsel

TRANSFER TALK

Axel Witsel wants to leave Zenit St. Petersburg. It was thought that he would be signing a new contract and that Zenit had talked him round to staying but the 27-year-old (28 next January) has now reaffirmed that he wants a new challenge at a top club in Serie A or the Premier League.

"I would like an experience in another league, a new challenge. I hope to level up and play in a big European club.
"Market rumours of Rome, Milan, Chelsea, and Tottenham? My future may be in Italy or England - reports  -. No matter if you go to Serie A or the Premier League, if they're a great club."

His comments clearly indicate he isn't interested in joining Stoke City, Everton or West Ham. He is known to want UEFA Champions League football which narrows down the market to Juventus, Napoli, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal, at least until after the qualification round when his potential destination could increase to include Manchester City and  Roma.
