Highly doubtful Spurs are after Sigurdsson

The Guardian are suggesting that Tottenham Hotspur and of course Leicester City (their name is thrown at every story now) have sounded out the representatives of 30-year-old Iceland defender Ragnar Sigurdsson after his Man of the Match performance against England.

It sounds highly dubious unless we are looking for a player who is happy to sit on the bench as cover, given he is above out transfer policy age. One would question how well he could play a high line and whether at 30 younger strikers would be too quick for him. Liverpool's name are also thrown at the story and suggestions Schalke and Wolfsburg are interested. Sound like the usual rubbish we get during every major tiurnament. A player has a good game and suddenly everyone is supposed to be after him, one for the gullible to lap up for me.

He plays at Russian club Krasnodar so doesn't have experience any experience of playing in any of the top five leagues in Europe. His career has been spent at Fylkar (Reykjavík, Iceland), IFK Gothenburg (Sweden) and Copenhagen (Denmark) before he moved to Russia in 2014.
