Spurs forward on loan until April

Young Tottenham Hotspur forward Ryan Loft has been signed by National League side Braintree Town on work experience terms until the end of March.

The 18-year-old (19 in September) ia making his way through our youth system and is a regular goalscorer for us. Last season he scored 13 goals for our Under-18 side in 27 games (15 starts) and has scored 5 goals in 5 starts and 3 substitute appearances.

He has recently been playing for the Under-21 side (3 appearances), and scored against Norwich City. He joined Tottenham as an Under-14. In the 2013-14 season making a total of three youth team appearances and scored one goal as an Under-16.

Loft was also part of the Spurs teams that won the Premier League Under-18 Champions Cup in August 2015, where in the final he netted the winner against Benfica, and the IMG Cup in December 2014. The tall striker has netted braces against Chelsea and Southampton youth sides this season.
National League side Braintree are currently 4th in the table and host Eastleigh on Saturday who sit 8th. Both sides are chasing a play-off place. The top two in the table, Cheltenham 79pts and Forest Green 78pts are well clear of 3rd placed Grimsby 62 points who like Braintree in 4th on 57 pts have 3 games in hand. Tranmere sit in 5th place, the last play-off place also on 57 points but having played 2 games more than Braintree.

Clearly it is an important time for the Essex side and it will be good experience for Loft to have the pressure to perform on his shoulders.
