Spurs strong interest in German talent

Tottenham, as well as many clubs in Europe, are looking closely at 25-year-old (26 next February) Daniel Didavi. Stuttgart's left-footed attacking midfielder will be out of contract in the summer so if the Bundesliga want any sort of fee for him at all then they have to sell him in January or tie him down to a new contract. It is not in his best interests to sign a new contract, as a free agent he can command higher wages with clubs not having a transfer fee to pay.

Mauricio Pochettino is after versatile players and Didavi could play both on the lefty or the right of our attacking three midfielders. The former German Under-21 international has scored 7 goals and has 4 assists in 16 Bundesliga games this season. He has scored three in his last three games after netting two against Wolfsburg at the weekend while playing the secondary strikers role.

Wolsfburg wish to become the second force in German football and are disappointed that they are languishing in 7th place 12 points behind Dortmund despite topping Group B in the UEFA Champions League. They have been drawn against surprise qualifiers Gent in the next round. The Belgian side qualifying probably means that striker Laurent Depoitre will remain at the club until the summer ahead of the 2016 UEFA European Championships.

Tottenham face competition as the Wolves, as Wolfsburg are nicknamed, are interested in Didavi as are Bayer Leverkusen, although it is thought in the German press that he will not join them. Spurs are known to take a very keen interest in the German market as we have identified the Bundesliga as a source of talent. The success of Son Heung-min and the speed with which he has adapted adds further encouragement that it is a league to monitor.

The midfielder has been asked about the rumours but has declined to comment, although he did hint that he had held talks with Wolfsburg.
