Spurs must share the blame

Tim Sherwood has always told it like it is, he got on well with Daniel Levy because he didn't try to pull the wool over his eyes, he wasn't a yes man.

Spurs must share the blame

Some fans believe anything he says must be complete rubbish for who he is rather than what he has said which is rather foolish, especially when he is spot on. The former Tottenham boss, who was only ever an interim boss in reality, told BT Sport during his post-match punditry analysis that Soldado has run out of excuses and he's right.

"In my opinion Harry Kane is better than Roberto Soldado.
"I chose Kane last year as he was consistently performing better in training. He [Soldado] needs to start producing on the field and we can't make excuses for him anymore.
"He should be settled in at the club after living here for over a year."

The bottom line is you have to produce when you get the opportunity. In fairness he was reasonable but it hasn't taken Diego Costa long to adapt to the Premier League has it. If you are a quality player with the right mindset you will produce when you get the chance, if you have the skill but not the mind you won't.

Soldado was shot of confidence last season, he missed sitters and fluffed his lines on virtually every occasion, he bottled it, he panicked. When he got a chance he snatched at it or tried to smash a volley thus losing his technique and missing. Tottenham didn't help much, not playing him when he did score so the club have to take their share of the responsibility for ruining a player.

The man management of him has been poor and now it's a case of trying to restore a player, which is a lot harder task so you don't envy Pochettino.

At 12.30 GMT we take a look at Soldado and Adebayor, assess their statistics to see who should be starting against Newcastle United next week and perhaps which one of the two should be sold to allow a new striker to arrive, assuming we can find a buyer for each at the right price.

Will it be Soldado or Adebayor? Find out at 12.30 GMT.
