Spurs Chat, Lauturo and Porro

OK, let's preach to the converted because those of you who read this blog are generally head and shoulders above the rank-and-file toxic Twitter lot.

A small point there. In an interview with Kieran Trippier recently, he stated that his time at the end of his Tottenham was very difficult because he was getting so much abuse on social media.

That puts him in the wrong frame of mind to produce top-quality performances, so the toxic Twitter lot are not helping Tottenham at all, they are helping the opposition.

Just one of my previous articles on the subject:

Antonio Conte said the same thing basically, so did Gareth Bale about the Real Madrid fans.

It is the fans responsibility to create a positive environment permanently surrounding Tottenham so that when the club name is mentioned, it produces a positive image in everyone's mind.

Fans who don't understand this know little about the game, little about psychology, little about mindset, little about how to achieve success.

As Michael Owen said after the Liverpool vs Tottenham game, Liverpool fans are always positive, you don't hear them abusing a player.

You do the Spurs fans though don't you.

One set of fans knows how to help their club win trophies, one set of fans doesn't.

Anyway, that wasn't what today's post was supposed to be about, no I thought I'd explain to a few about the transfer market because again you see folk on social media who don't seem to understand the game today.

Sportico have valued the top 20 football clubs in the world.

Silly fans simply see a figure and say Spurs have more money than XYZ club (all those below us) and therefore if wwant them there is no way they should be 'allowed' to go elsewhere.

That is incredibly naive.

The number one criterion today is not money, it is Champions League football, followed by money.

Spurs are valued as the 6th biggest club in the Premier League so the five above us have a greater pull.

If Spurs get into the Champions League then our pull groves a little.

BUT, PSG and Lyon are virtually guaranteed Champions League football, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are virtually guaranteed to qualify for the UCL.

Usually, Juventus are guaranteed and make Europe's top club competition, lately Inter and Milan, while in Spain Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are virtually guaranteed UEFA Champions League football.

That makes all of those clubs more attractive to a player than Spurs.

So instead of knocking the club again and again, maybe the anti-fan should educate themselves a little and understand the football industry a little better than they do.

Lauturo Martinez

An intermediary for Spurs and Manchester United has made an inquiry to Inter Milan about the availability of Argentinian striker Lauturo Martinez.

They make it clear that both clubs have a 'concrete' interest in the 25-year-old (26 next August).

Goal Lauturo has been involved in this season, that have been scored whilst he has been on the pitch:
  • 28% of his side's UEFA Champions League goals (83% playing time)
  • 40% of goals in Serie A (78% playing time)
  • 40% 0f goals in the Coppa Italia (95% playing time)
  • 33% of goals in the Supercoppa Italiana (100% playing time)

The inquiry was immediately dismissed, however, with Inter saying he is not for sale and that they will not even sit down and enter into any further discussions.

Pedro Porro

Real Madrid wanted to sign Pedro Porro this summer but Spurs stepped in in January and overpaid for him to secure him, otherwise, he would surely have signed for the Spanish side.

They have not lost interest and stories are circulating that they see his problems at Spurs and feel they may still be able to sign him yet.

Defensively he has been very poor but clearly, he offers something going forward.

Emerson has not really got behind the club and only started playing when Porro arrived so without strong competition you'd expect his standards to drop again.

Is right-back, therefore, still a problem area?
