Erik-ten-Hag

Hello all and welcome once again to the blog where common sense can be found in abundance.

The is a lot of crap spewed out by journalist who twist what is said and twist what is written to mean something entirely different.

Take the Kane situation, where absolutely nothing has happened by the way.

Firstly, let's put the record straight, Harry Kane has not ASKED to leave.

He agreed to stay to see if Mourinho could build a Champions League team and he wants to play Champions League football, yes we know that, BUT, he has not actually asked to leave.

Do Man City want him, yes, but he won't play the role he does at Spurs, as City don't ned that, they merely need a goalscorer.

Would he go there, yes, he would, they are probably the only Premier League club who can afford him.

Have they bid for him, no.

The Daily Star have suggested they will make, NOT HAVE MADE, a FINAL take-it-or-leave-it bid of £100m.

That has been misreported in Italy as an actual bid, which has been rereported by our dishonest journalists as an actual bid.

Fabrizio Romano, who hasn't a clue what's happened suggests three players who COULD, not have, be offered.

That is rereported as part of the bid now.

It's all fictitious and all stems from one made up article by one of the gutter press.

The same applies to the manager hunt, the press are simply winding the gullible fans up, suggesting names, even the content of private meetings!

This untrustworthy Italian journalist now says Spurs are talking to 5 people this week.

Who has told him this then, Spurs certainly haven't, Spurs keep all dealings secret.

This is just his guess and it's wrong.

Gattuso was spoken to, offered nothing, that isn't a failure as Jim White would have you believe and our gutter press, it's merely an exploratory talk.

It's the same as with other candidates like ex-Barcelona boss Valverde, or our chat with Jurgen Klinsmann over a month ago.

It is suggested we are talking to Graham Potter this week, well that's nonsense, he ISN'T on our list after a very brief initial talk with him a while back.

As with everyone, we sound them out to see if there is any interest in talking, like we did with Jurgen Klinsmann.

Potter will NOT be our next manager, he'll be at Brighton next season, we will not be talking to him.

He said NO, he didn't want to be interviewed.

He has full control over transfers there which he wouldn't have at Tottenham.

I can not see us appointing Ernesto Valverde, but Erik ten Hag is a very live possibility.

Financials are not a problem but there is this nagging doubt that he has no top tier league experience.

Yes he has Champions League experience, but the Dutch league is second tier and he is at the biggest club who have an established youth system producing players.

Spurs will be aware that pre-season will start in July and international players will return between 19-26th July.

Pre-season (5 July) starts with fitness tests, the medical team assessing where players are at to see if any need specialist or additional training.

Now I am not saying Spurs will wait until then, I'm just saying it isn't the huge issue than fans think it is.

Ideally, Spurs need to appoint in the next couple of weeks or at the end of the Euros.

If we have a National Manager in mind, and I'm not saying we have, then we can't announce that, or let it be known, until that side are out of their competition, otherwise it could adversely affect their chances.

People are not remaining calm because many have an agenda and most certainly don't understand the football industry.

I have just had a long chat with a sensible anti-ENIC guy and, despite what others think, completely understand his frustration.

My argument was that the club have a stated plan and can only be judged against that plan, not a supporters entirely different agenda.

The plan is simple and clear, to build the club to generate the income to invest in the team on a level playing field.

To achieve that, the stadium had to come first, from creating the highest credit rating, to therefore obtaining the cheapest loans, to building and earning.

It started to earn and then Covid hit, BUT the revenue figures for the year show the stadium had a big impact for us, just as we were told it would.

Covid has stopped that so we need that to end, fans back and matchday commercial income to return, as well as from out of season events.

Until then, investment into the time is with one hand behind our backs so player sales will be important.

We have been told the team will be invested in from stadium revenue, which of course the anti crowd don't want to believe.

We are waiting on Covid, some will of course then expect instant investment. I suspect it would take a season of good investment and repairing finances before higher investment in the team.

Common sense to me but would suit some agendas.

After that NFL, a franchise and the American commercial market opens up to us, but first step is a full stadium again.

How we are doing and why we have stalled temporarily has to be measured against the club plan.

The reason we couldn't invest heavily last summer or this, is the stadium not earning but costing as a result of Covid, not Daniel Levy.

ENIC have built the club from bankruptcy basically to a top club that will soon for the first time be able to compete on a near level footing.

Unfortunately our entitled fans haven't matured as well as the clubs growth plans have.

Looked at against the clubs plans, with Covid in mind and the huge loss of income, it is easy to see where we are and the picture isn't as the immature on Twitter paint it.

Whilst they don't want to wait, given our now, now, now culture today, they will have to.
