Ndombele and Clarke Updates

Tanguy-Ndombele

Tanguy Ndombélé

I can tell you that Lyon President Jean-Michel Aulas threw out a red herring when he said Lyon did not need to sell by the end of the month to meet financial commitments because Daniel Levy and Spurs were fully aware that he had to sell.

That put us in a good position for negotiations because they HAD to agree to a deal. You always have a stranglehold over French clubs in this respect. Lyon wanted the majority to be guaranteed payment, in other words, not add-ons (performance-related bonuses).

The deal we have, €62m (£55.54m - $70.41m) plus €15m (£13.44m - $17.03m) add-ons is some £10m (€11.16m - $12.68m) short of what they wanted as a guaranteed fee.

Tanguy Ndombélé is on holiday in Morocco but will fly into London and have his medical tomorrow because the French need this deal all completed before 30 June.

Ok, so why isn't this deal happening yet with everyone saying how close it is? The same thing that happened with Ndombélé, the press don't know what was happening.

Clarke is training with Leeds ahead of our pre-season training ahead of our pre-season training but the latest I have heard today is that he is also having a medical tomorrow and then he can be announced.

Why is the fee so low? Because we have agreed to Leeds United having a sell-on clause.

He will not be the only youngster joining, given that we have signed three development players already and the Sessegnon boys are likely on their way.

Clarke will join the first team squad but he is a raw talent that needs developing. He hasn't had a great deal of football but we'll get to see him in pre-season games before his long hard development graft begins.

there is no plan to loan him out as yet, but if we do Leeds will have first refusal.
