Man U not interest in Eric Dier

Manchester United Not Interest In Eric Dier

Eric-Dier

The Times are suggesting that Manchester United are going to revive their interest in midfielder Eric Dier, who has suffered a season of injury and illness.

We do seem to suffer more than most from players being out of action for a year or more, Winks, Lamela (twice), Wanyama, Dier, Janssen.

When an athlete is finely tuned he or she is susceptible to illness and can take longer to get over them as well.

Is this luck, isn't it about time our luck changed?

Anyway, back to Eric Dier. I remember asking the question in an article if he had stopped improving and he then put in the most horrendous performance against Bournemouth that should have seen him sent off, twice!

He may be a better version of Rice and Delph, but like them he isn't mobile enough when we have the ball, if a side is giving us the high press.

The beauty of Winks is that he'll faint one way and go the other so he can receive a ball from a central defender on the half turn, which he can either sweep wide, forward or twist and turn his marker to start an attack.

The more defensive players like Wanyama, the pair who played for England (Delph and Rice) and Dier is they don't. That puts pressure on the defenders with the ball and the other midfielders. It's why we often struggle when Winks isn't there to build from the back and break teams down.

Equally, when Winks draws a player from midfield by moving reasonably close to the man with the ball it creates a space for the right-sided or left-sided midfielder to receive the ball. The problem we have is that Liverpool stifled us at the back and were not able to get the ball into these areas often enough or quick enough to be able to turn and cause damage.

When Liverpool played long balls directed at Trippier, they had more men to collect the ball from second or third play. Trippier would head away and Van Dyke would then head to a teammate. Tottenham had fewer men when playing a long ball and thus were less effective as we try to play it into space.

Without Winks on the field, we created one clear cut opening, our other shots were from outside the box.

Mauricio Pochettino has changed his position once, from centre-back to defensive midfield, where he s playing for Sporting and he also played right-back when he put in some superb crosses.

Dier wouldn't be interested in going to Manchester United, they are only in the Europa League whereas Tottenham were in the Champions League Final.

My enquiries suggest that there is no interest from Manchester United and it is merely a reporter inventing an easy story.

I saw a funny article suggesting Everton should make a move for him. Do these people not have an inkling about the game. Everton aren't even in Europe, they are not Real Madrid, they have nothing to offer.
