Lambert no surprise & dodgy Ade

Ricky Lambert had expected to be a WBA player in the next 48 hours with Saido Berahino wanting to leave for Tottenham. Negotiations on that deal will take place next week when we return from the trip to America for the MLA All-Stars game and associated community marketing events.

Now reports are emerging that Tottenham are considering a bid. This is nothing new, he has been on the Tottenham radar as a possible stop gap if other striker targets don't come to fruition. Back in January I wrote he was being considered as a loan option. Tottenham consider loan move for Lambert.

The idea is to have two young strikers and one experienced and Ricky Lambert would give us another season to try to finalise a deal for a younger experienced striker. With Adebayor going on loan, a move for Lambert would allow Roberto Soldado to join Villarreal if we can also secure another young striker.

Andy Gray believes would not be able to trust Adebayor to perform & labels Berbatov as 'past his sell-by date'.

He's not wrong is he although Adebayor should be motivated and when he is motivated he plays. That is what Tim Sherwood will be hoping taking him on a season-long loan deal. Adebayor will have to play for another contract somewhere and we know at Spurs that when he is motivated he can play, he's just rarely motivated.

Personally I think he'll score regularly next season which should allow Aston Villa the chance to have a season where they don't fight relegation. Dimitar Berbatov is now 34 so there is going to need to be plenty of energy around him when he plays. Give him a chance and he'll tuck it away though.

Crystal Palace are buying, Stoke City are targetting talent and Newcastle United have started to restructure their side and West Ham are strengthening under a new manager. It could be an interesting season for many a club.
