Adebayor likely to miss Liverpool

Emmanuel Adebayor is unlikely to be fit for the trip to Anfield which will mean Roberto Soldado getting another game up front for Spurs on Sunday. It has been a while since he has had a run of games and with the season all but over it seems an ideal chance to give him further game time.

Ade has been playing with a series of niggling injuries and took a knock on his ankle while putting in a sterling shift against Arsenal. He hasn't figured since and faces another game on the sidelines.

Kyle Walker plays with injuries and doesn't like to let the side down but playing with a pelvic injury could put him out of the World Cup. He is very unlikely to be seen and indeed probably not for a few weeks. If we lose this game I wouldn't be at all surprised if he didn't miss most of the rest of the season.

Kyle Naughton will continue at right-back and want to put his first-half horror show against Southampton behind him  however Luis Suarez drifts out left to collect balls and drive at the defence so he may have a tough days work ahead of him.

Michael Dawson and Vlad Chiriches are both back in full training but have only recently returned so match fitness would be an issue for either therefore, Chiriches is in fact due to play an Under 21 game tonight. Younes Kaboul therefore may well continue alongside Jan Vertonghen at the heart of our defence.

“In the first half we let [Southampton] have too much time on the ball and they were a threat,”Kaboul told reporters ahead of the trip to Anfield.

“We have to make sure that we don’t start against Liverpool as we started against Southampton. If we do, it will be very difficult to come back again, especially at Anfield.

“We’re working hard and we’re going there to take something out of the game and hopefully win it.”
