Martinez would love Premier League, now love Serie A

Jackson Martinez is another I have revealed is going nowhere this January and probably not in the summer either, despite what he or his agent says. I've noticed noticed that since my article revealing he had agreed a new contract with Porto and that it has a £35 release clause that he is no longer quoted as a £40 million ($60.63m - €52.43m - AUS$76.66m) player!

Martinez would love Premier League, now love Serie A

Porto club chairman Pinto da Costa revealed to the clubs official website in November that the Colombian striker had agreed new terms to stay at the club with a buyout clause that comes into effect at the end of the season of 35 million EUR (£26.11m - $30.58m - AU$49.96m).

His agent Henrique Pompeo has been speaking to the Italians and told AreaNapoli.it his client would love to play in Italy when asked if he like it there. It's his job to make all the right noises, you never know when someone is willing to pay his buyout clause, as ever though anything said to the press is taken with a large pinch of salt.

"His desire is clear: he wants to play in Serie A. He has his heart set on Italy and if he were to leave Porto then Serie A would be his first choice.
"It is very unlikely Porto would let him leave in January, because they still need him for the Champions League and to chase Benfica in the table, so consequently Martinez will only move at the end of the season.
"He’d be happy at Napoli because we are talking about a very special club, but he’d be happy with Roma, Milan or Juventus too. They are all great teams."

He has said the same thing about the Premier League, it just depends which countries press he or his agent is talking to and that seems to be their first choice, a case of tell the press what they want to hear.
