Daniel Levy is 70% toward his goal, I say his goal, it is the club's goal.
Most people are reactive, unable to read a situation, as the 3,000 demonstrate.
They should be mastering the reality that surrounds them - it's a journey...
A long journey, a length they don't want...
But a necessary one to get to where we as a club want to be.
The stadium was built and a couple of seasons of that would have set us up...
But Covid hit and with a new stadium, it hit Tottenham harder than it hit any other club.
European football has never really financially recovered.
The pandemic led to a net loss of £63.9 million for the financial year ending June 2020, primarily due to lost matchday income and the absence of third-party events.
I wrote at the time that it would take 4 years to recover from that.
Two years to financially restabilize and two years to financially prepare.
That has proved to be the case.
From there you can start to build a squad for the next 7 - 10 years to grow together like the young group did under Mauricio Pochettino.
That is happening so everything is on course.
If a woman gives you a hug there are multiple things she is telling you...
And multiple things she could be telling you.
The fans being hugged by the club aren't picking up any of those subtle signs.
They don't want a hug.
They would rather lean in for a kiss on the cheek while claiming they are giving their full support.
Their actions say otherwise.
Their tweets day otherwise.
Their Facebook posts say otherwise.
They need to train themselves to see beyond the surface.
All the 3,000 have demonstrated is ignorance.
Ignorance of what's happening.
Ignorance of the journey.
You don't become a successful and sustainable business overnight.
There is no 'get rich quick" system.
And you have to build that successful business to build sustainable success...
Because the business pays for it.
Then, and only then, can you start to build the playing side.
That clearly is being done to grow together...
Bring success...
That the model can then sustain.
A self-sustainable football club with the resources to stay at the elite level.
These 3,000 laughed when Daniel Levy said the vision is to rival Real Madrid and Barcelona on and off the pitch.
It was beyond their comprehension.
Daniel Levy is showing them how it is done.
Business first, then to football.
Spurs are at the point where they can now do both...
Not the finished article on or off the pitch by any means...
But financially where we can now invest in building a squad...
While simultaneously building the external income streams to be greater.
As of February 2025, Tottenham has made notable strides in line with this vision.
The club's financial health has improved, with the potential to invest up to £180 million without breaching financial regulations.
Tottenham are approximately 60-70% along the path to realizing the stated vision.
But, you don't have to be at the end of the path to start winning trophies.
The end of the path is challenging at the very latter stages of the UEFA Champions League every year...
As Real Madrid do.
The foundations are firmly in place, and recent financial recoveries have set the stage for sustained investment in the playing squad.
Translating this into consistent on-field success is the ongoing challenge...
And that requires a mentality shift from staff...
Coaches...
Playing staff...
AND supporters.
At the moment the 3,000 are the people an entrepreneur loves...
Because they chase the next shiny object...
They chase a get-rich-quick scheme...
One where they can push a button and do no work.
Entrepreneurs create a product...
Give it a jazzy name...
Then market it by showing them how instant it is...
Sell to their emotion.
They lap it up.
There is no intention to actually help these people.
The seller knows none of them are actually going to do the work required.
They'll have a half-hearted go...
Deem it doesn't work and move on to the next shiny object.
The 3,000 are the shiny object chasers.
