The African approach, a lazy approach?
1 min read
The crazy world of African football as all rather disjointed demonstrated itself again as Emmanuel Adebayor turned up at Entebbe International Airport without his teammates.
Togo are playing Uganda and for those of you unaware Entebbe International Airport is in Uganda. It seems a very much laid back do as you please approach to international football, an apparent approach we have seen time and time again.
Kenyan Airlines, KQ 410 carried the striker but nobody seems to know when everyone else will arrive, the Ugandans have not been told apparently. No pictures were allowed and no interviews permitted by his personal security detail.
Apparently they were expected to have arrived at noon on Thursday and didn't show up. It is believed his team will arrive by private jet but not known. The game takes place at 4pm on Saturday.
Quite why Adebayor is not with them as their captain, goodness knows, is he a decoy or something? Togo were of course shot at on one famous occasion so secrecy still seems to surround their movements. I can only assume that Adebayor is travelling separately for his own personal safety.
It doesn't sound like an ideal way to prepare for an important game of football that Togo must win after losing their first two qualifying games, another loss and they will be practically out of the 2015 African Cup of Nations and Tottenham wouldn't then be losing Adebayor in January.
